As many of us know, newer cars and trucks are equipped with the capability of keeping track of where you are, where you've been, and how you got from place to place. This information is already being used to catch criminals, cheating spouses, and people causing accidents. We are not protected by rights of privacy when we are in a vehicle. It's not much of a stretch to predict that police could use a download of data to determine when and where you were speeding, and then let the computer send you a ticket. Engine computer data could be used to monitor the emissions control systems of vehicles. I understand there have been experiments having autos with problems transmit their data to roadside receivers. This data could also be used to force people to take their vehicles in for service. It's only a matter of time.

Another interesting tid-bit is that in California almost every week there is some idiot trying to outrun the cops in high speed chases. Unfortunately, innocent bystanders are sometimes the victims of these events. Well it has been reported there is now a system called the "StarChase Pursuit Management System" which is being tested by the Los Angeles Police Department. Get this, the police cars are equipped with a cannon pointing forward that shoots a GPS radio "homing-device" with sticky gum that adheres onto the exterior of the bad guys vehicle. This now allows police to stop the pursuit and monitor the vehicle's position electronically. Interesting idea. As some have suggested, maybe they should instead call this the "Chase-Killer".

Only one solution, everyone needs to sell their vehicles, cell phones, computers, GPS systems, and drive a Willy's Jeep

*Wait scratch that, then I'm out of a job..... Onward progress? :(

take 15/64th drillbits to the transmitters

i totally follow what your sayin seriously

throw on the traffic cameras at intersections and on the freeway that mail you a ticket without being pulled over and not limited to being used against you outside of the bounds of there having been an accident

there's people and groups of people that would love to 'ban' non conforming vehicles and 'force' everyone to purchase new 'conforming tattletale' vehicles

ATM Cams catching people speeding, store camera's being used to record license plate numbers to tell where the vehicle has been, and lets not forget the Mother of all, satellites. I can say that between the various eyes in the sky we are never alone
*looks out the window and notices a black vehicle driving up with no license plate
*oh wait it's just the neighbors new suburban..... for now

Where's my popcorn?

The only thing I will say is, if you are out in public, you are fair game. When in public, your actions affect many lives. Just think how dangerous it would be if Jetpacks were commerical reality. Drunk jetpacking and joypacking into power lines and other people.

I just watched the police perform field sobriety test across the street from me. The older woman was very animated and the cops were patient with her. She kept failing each test and kept asking for another try, which they let her do, yet still fail miserably. She was in her 50's wearing one of those dime store older woman's dresses that she had to keep adjusting. They handcuffed her and gently walked her to the crusier which she struggled to walk with them (drunk struggle, not fighting struggle). Thank goodness, one less drunk off the roads, for now. It was at 7:15pm not late at night.

Shoot those tracking devices on flee-er's cars.

I've got plenty of popcorn in the cabinet! Help yourself! :)

The only big issue I have with such things is the whole 'Here's your ticket' via mail with the removal of the human element in speeding tickets and what not

blatantly run a stop light, jump through a rail road crossing and I hope a camera catches you and ya get a ticket

but at the same time.. who was driving the vehicle? the vehicle owner, their wife, kid.. who?
