Unfortunately, I don't know the PNW. But it sure is nice to see another hunter on this board. Welcome to LOST and good luck on your search for PNW hunting advice! I wish I could join you, I hear there are some great hunts up there!

I know there is some good hunting out in the Blue Mountains. There's a great little town out there called Ukiah, Or and the hot springs are there also...only problem is that it's gonna be more then 100 miles from Tacoma. You could also try around Castle Rock..I've heard it's not bad and I don't think you could go wrong with the Coastal Range.

What are you hunting? Bear, Mule Deer, Elk, Cougar (hit any of the bars within a mile of the naval stations)?

ive got a deer, elk, cougar, bear combo tag, i was surprised to see that you could buy the whole thing over the counter, i'm originally from north eastern north dakota and we've got amazing whitetail hunting, but the only deer tag we sell over the counter is a bow tag, all the others whether its a doe or a buck you want, you have to send in for the weighted lottery system and yoru not guaranteed to get a buck tag, that part is kinda crappy but north dakota is one heck of a state to live in, can't wait to move back once i'm done with the army. we dont have much for elk hunting back home so it would be a shame not to take advantage of all the hunting opportunities out here, i just gotta figure out a good happy medium with hunting and my wife and daughter, but at least she knows that a guys gotta hunt, haha well i kind of rambled but at least you kinda get to see what i'm all about. thanks guys.

Only time I've gotten an over the counter tag is for archery in Idaho for elk. I only saw 2 elk, one was on the back of someone else's truck and the other was hauling butt away.

Legal info for you.

For locations check out:

I've always heard the ONF is a pretty good spot for Black Tail and Bear.
