Heavy armor is good for military purposes. But is just too heavy for everyday civilian use. Just think of the gas mileage that thing must get.

probably gets about the same mileage that the 2 1/2's get

which ain't all that bad considering they'll run off of just about anything that has an oily or flamable nature

suprised ya don't want a sandcat they're really nice, i drove a early oshkosh sandcat for a few weeks that was more along the lines of a rover or armored surburban than the sandcat model that they now offer

1st they will never be offered to the public, even after there service life since they are armored, they will be recycled. The only fuel they will see is JP8 which will destroy the diesel engine in less then 25,000miles.It's a funny joke between military mechanics that we never have to change the oil in a engine since the engine is destroyed before it requires a oil change, basically just install new engine when it's time for a oil change.

very true

which is sad because they run rather well off a mixture of transmission fluid and diesel

At 25000 pounds its a little heavy for driving to the grocery store. :) But it sounds great for Afghanistan because it weighs half of previous similar vehicles and you can drive it twice as fast because it has a better suspension.
