Lets see how many users on here have a Mac or a PC. And argue why

On my second PC now. HP laptop. My Sony Vaio that I bought back in 2002 I still have and it still works well. It only needs a hard drive upgrade. I haven't used a Mac in a long time but I'm open to owning a Mac. The main reason I haven't bought a Mac in years past was the price. |

I have a deep down dislike of all things apple. imo mac's are better for graphics ( photoshop/illustrator ), but for everything else pc > mac |

Though I have felt some contempt for microsoft at times, I can't see buying a MAC with it's price tag, when PC's have always done everything I've asked of them. I would have to try a MAC to pass judgement on it, and its not worth the cost and possible hassle for me to bother. |

I've always used PC, but admired Macs. Then I tried using one. It's just kind of annoying, and not nearly as simple or easy as a PC. If it's not broken, don't fix it. |

I like to build my own rigs and you just can't do that with a Mac. (Unless you build a Hackintosh  )
Macs are pretty cool and well built, though. |

What? There's no option for "Both"! I have Macs and PCs at work, both workstations and servers. I have Macs and PCs at home too. My most-often-used computer at home is a Mac though, so I went ahead and voted for Mac. |

Mac. I wouldn't go back to Windows to save my friggin' life. But I don't argue the OS's. The Mac works perfect for me and that's all that matters. As for Mac price, people have been using that excuse for years. And when you compared the price of a middle of the road Mac, to PC running XP, the costs pretty much evened out considering all the software one had to buy to do what comes bundled in Apple's OS X. Speaking of Apple's OS X, no spyware or anti-virus software needed. I wonder how many of you Windows user's (especially those who think there are more applications / software programs for a PC) realize which is the fastest growing and most successful division at Microsoft? Yeah, their Mac OS X division. Each year when Apple holds their expo, the head of the MS division comes to speak. And as for you productivity / office types, here's quick story Steve Jobs told us 3 or 4 years ago... He and Bill (Gates - yes they are actually friends) were having lunch in San Francisco one day when Bill told Steve, it irks me (he used profanity) that my people can build "Office" without bugs to run flawlessly on OS X but they can't do it for XP Pro. Obviously we, the audience thought that was funny. But again, I don't argue because each person should use whichever Operating System works best for them. Oh yeah, for Mac user's, worms are for fishing... Viruses? - See a doctor... Trojans? Well we won't go there.

I've used both and taught on both platforms. I or my students have blown up both platforms equally well. I also don't much care to quibble about either... as long as I can do what I want/need to do on my computer, I could care less about the platform. |

if you're worried about viruses - get Linux personally I do like Macs - but only if it's company provided - I won't pay for one. |

Price of a MAC isn't an excuse. For what I need the computer for a PC/laptop works great. I would however like to have a MAC with a solid state hard drive. Seems like it would be a bit faster with less moving parts. |

I picked up a user eMac at our church yard sale for $300. Installed the free OpenOffice Suite and a handfull of other Mac freeware. Although its a tad slow (its five years old), it has been upgraded to the latest OS, and more memory. Does everything I used to do on my PC without the worry of viruses, trojans or spyware. Turned my old PC into a Linux file server to store all my songs and photos. My next computer will be a new Mac. |

Be sure to install the free Photoshop software available on the Internet... it comes complete with a seriously bad virus infection. I'm not sure who told you that there was no reason to "worry of viruses, trojans or spyware", but you were misinformed. Just because the marketers want you to believe something is no reason to bite the bait. |
