Just wanted to tell you about an experience today that p*ssed me off more than ever. My girlfriend just dropped off her Honda Accord to be repaired from getting rear ended. Enterprise in Santa Monica gave her a 2009 Toyota RAV4 despite claims that they will not be renting out Toyota vehicles affected by the sticky gas pedal and Toyota putting the press release out that they are pulling the vehicles from those fleets.

They would have never rented this out to a guy or someone else that they thought would be aware of the situation. She is bringing the vehicle back and filling a complaint with the BBB

Good luck with the BBB, I think you will find they are useless. I think a call to your state's Attorney General's office may yield more results. Be sure the rental was among the affected vehicles recalled though.

Factoid: Enterprise sources a lot of their cars from new cars that are wrecked before they are sold. Most are just minor fender benders in the dealer lot or damage in transit to the dealer. I have never had an Enterprise that had blood stains on the seats or carpet, but I have had a few traps. Avis yanked all the Recalled Toyotas and Hertz only kept the ones that were given the OK from Toyota.
Personally I feel Steve Wozniak is onto something with bad ECM software in his '10 Prius. The accelerator peddle spring shim replacement sounds like a scam fix to me not a real fix. The real fix will most likely take an ECM flash and be cloaked in a Drive ability Goodwill gesture to keep the Toyota Sheepole happy with their Koolaid.

As far as your Girlfriend goes, have her complain about the car and say that it has a "drive ability problem", "like the gas peddle is not connected to the engine". Since it is wired to the ECM and not connected to the engine, she will be telling the truth, but Enterprise will be too stupid to figure that out. She can say thanks when they swap the car for another one.

Charm and manipulation will get you much farther with Idiots than trying to bully them.

I disagree, around here Enterprise SELLS vehicles like that, a brand new vehicle, even in a minor fender bender gets sold by enterprise at auction.

They may sell the ones that get wrecked or damaged after they rent them for the first time. But they do buy cars that are new and fixed that can't be sold as new. True, they follow the law, but they are Bean Counters trying to make a fast buck renting cars. Once I renter one of their cars that happened to be a high line Volvo. I could tell it was repaired in a body shop that was not as good as Sir Sam with the quality of their paint jobs.
