Video of the Jeep Liberty in action begins at the 2 minute and 12 second mark if you prefer to not view the video in its entirety.

The roads are pure ice outside yet folks still insist on driving up steep hills even when warned not to.

Ok... I dont know how that happened. I drive 50 on the highway in blizzard conditions. Hopefully there was ice under the pretty white stuff.

Stock tires?

Laugh, I did.

The funny part were the people that were all mad like the lib owner slamming his door ........ none of these people would have been in this position if they would have stayed home or gone a different direction

Haha! Almost everybody you see sliding has their brakes locked.

I slid backwards like this after a big snowstorm last year in Green, a little freaky. I however got off the brakes enough to steer, pull a Rockford, then head downhill under control.

This sounds dumb but if you take your vehicle to a empty parking lot and slide around a little then you know what your vehicle can and cant do....get a feel for it. I've always done it for fun but then when it comes to something real where your sliding on the highway your more prepared to react to something because you know how your vehicles gonna handle.
I came off an exit ramp once onto the highway (driving my 04 Mustang) as I came around the last bit of the curve I down shifted and gassed it up to about 60mph to catch up with traffic. The Stang cut the rear end loose and went sideways at 60mph across three lanes of traffic. I was about to stinky poo myself. In the mirror all I saw was cars backing way off lol. All I did though was turn slightly into it and it came out of the slide. Luckly no cars where anywhere near us.

This is what I would have done if I was sliding backwards down hill.
Spin the tires a LOT to heat them up, melt the ice/snow, find pavement and stop.

But thats just from a guy who's never seen a flake of snow his entire life. lol

Good luck with that. You would just make more ice for the next poor soul. :goink:

Does not work. Need friction to heat up the tires and lack of friction is why you slide.

Wow thats some kind of mad pile up. people are stupid most of them couldn't ever make it. If you watched the F250 he may have made up if he didn't slow down and stop next to that other SUV. once he stopped he didn't have the traction to to get goin again, if the truck would have kept going and not lost the momentuim he had he might have made it to the top. I was in a situation like that last winter on a lane that was up hill between two parking lots. I was going and the wheels started to spin a little, I slowed down and got my self stuck in...slid down and next to the curb. had to walk to Kmart and buy a shovel to dig myself out of the what I got myself in. after I was out I started at the bottom again for another try and was able to get to the top when I just kept going
