OK so this one's a bit different... was puttering around at an antique store today and came across a very cool old radio. I bought it on impulse and will do my best to restore the thing and get it working again. It's a Knight A10866, 8 tube, AM/Shortwave... made in 1937!!

Here's a pic from an old ad:

The rest are crap cell phone pics for the moment...

Cabinet is in great shape with all the glass and knobs intact and clicking/turning smoothly.

Peeking in the back. Scary.

The guts... time to do some dusting, start checking tubes for loose bits, and taking inventory of wax paper capacitors to replace

...and somehow these didn't all catch on fire...

Never done anything like this before... should be fun...

I was thinking how cool that would look if you decided to refinish the wood. 8) Very cool project! 8)

Yeah I spent much of last night all over the interwebz looking at this stuff and even came across a plan to get it going... today I ordered replacement vacuum tubes for the whole thing as well as new capacitors to be soldered in. Until they get here I need to find a new power cord, install a fuse, and clean the thing out.
