you can a ALWAYS find a D series on craigslist for cheap. but you would have to get the motor in the body to work with your older lenses, which is why i got the D80.

very jealous in the 105 2.8 macro and the fisheye! and the D700 of course

75-300mm 4.5 AF Nikkor - Great for a telephoto, an older lens but I enjoy it

Tripod: Sunpak ball-head with Pistol Head grip - love this for portrait shooting and easy adjustments

I am currently looking to get some Alienbees lighting equipment. First I need to use them to see if I like their set up.

I was just looking at these niftly little setups to fit in between a pocket digital and lugging around a bulky DSLR...same (or almost) as a DSLR quality picture-wise, full HD 1080 video, but they are mirrorless affording it to be uber-compact. Interchangeable lenses, and even has adapters to fit your expensive DSLR bigboy lenses. Anyone using one of these??

The XTi has served its time and I'm ready to upgrade to the 7D. Wish I could pinch enough pennies to get the 5D mk II but the price difference is about the same as the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L I have had my eye on.

Nikon N6000 was my first real camera, with a 50mm 1.8. I used it when I shot photos and wrote for a tiny newspaper. Now I work for a huge newspaper but my job is all words and no photography. That camera took a beating. Finally the latch that held the film door closed broke on a trip to Hawaii. I used a band-aid to hold the door shut and got some of my favorite shots ever. My wife got me an N65 with a 28-80 mm zoom to replace it. I liked the autofocus (the other one was manual) but I didn't use it long because after our daughter was born I realized how much more convenient a digital camera would be. I still have both of those film cameras and the lenses, which work great on my D700. My first digital camera was a Canon Powershot A540. It was good but I missed the flexibility of an SLR and it had pretty bad shutter lag so I kept missing shots. I got the D700 and started collecting glass, mostly older manual lenses since the best of the modern AF-S lenses are out of my budget. I shoot in RAW and use Capture NX2 for processing. What processing I do is usually really minor, just cropping or a little exposure adjustment, trying to save myself from my mistakes. I'm not really into mad Photoshop skilz. I've run out of room in a pretty big camera bag: Nikon D700 with MB-D10 grip SB-900 flash Benro A-198M8 tripod with Manfrotto 498RC2 ball head Manual focus Nikon lenses: 20mm f/3.5; 24 2.8; 35 2.8; 50 1.8; 85 1.4; 105 2.5; 105 2.8 macro Autofocus Nikon lenses: 16mm 2.8 fisheye; 50 1.4; 28-80 3.3.-5.6; 35-70 2.8; 28-300 3.5-5.6; 70-300 4.5-5.6 If anyone's interested in the 70-300 (it's the newer one with VR), I can make you a deal.

35mm (I sneer contemptuously at your digital toys) Canon T90 Canon F1N with speedfinder and motorwinder Lenses - too many really - Canon FD 24, 50, 100, 28-85, 70-210, 300. I have to say I've only used the 300 twice, but then again it was a bargain to buy! Plus the Canon 2x extender. Speed light 300 (for the T90) and Canon Hammerhead flashgun (can't recall the model right now ) Medium format - Mamiya 645 Super, 45mm, 80 and 75-150, plus 2 film backs. Manfrotto carbon tripod and monopod and magnesium 460 head. Sekonik 308 lightmeter with spot attachment. The thing I like about the F1N and Mamiya is the relative lack of dependence on batteries - both have mechanical shutter speeds, plus they are both very solid. Heavy, but solid!

Sold my D-80and the 35-80mm lens New set up -Nikon D-90 with grip -28-75mm tamron 2.8 -50mm 1.8 AF Nikkor - I highly recommend any 50mm prime lens, especially for around $100 -75-300mm 4.5 AF Nikkor - Great for a telephoto, an older lens but I enjoy it also got the SB-600 speedlight...and im having fun!

We brought it with for our honeymoon as we wanted dslr quality images without lugging the dslr and lens kits around. She has a number of Sony dslrs and the image quality is top notch. With the lens adapter she's able to use all the lenses for her Alpha cameras without issues. It's a great little camera that won't disappoint.
