If your doctor wants to put you on a Statin, I would be very cautious. I went on a Statin 6 months ago, at my 3 month blood work and evaluation with my doctor, I was very happy that my cholesterol levels were surprisingly low. 3 months later when the snow melted, it was time for mountain biking, I found my self winding easily, and my legs would tire very easy and hurt for some reason? So after riding bicycles most of my life with no problem, I put 2 and 2 together and did a little research on Statin side affects. It seems they eat up your skeletal muscles, plus can cause all kinds of other problems, some people never recover from this, I wish I had know this 6 months ago? I have stopped taking them in hopes the affects will reverse themselves. I also noticed my well formed rock hard leg muscles are not there any more? So like most prescription drugs, the side affects are usually worse then the cure. I am only posting this as a warning because it may be too late to find out later like I did and millions of others.

Had a similar experience, major leg cramps, weakness and no energy after about 6 months of use. Cholesterol was great, but life really sucked. Stopped taking it in August of last year, went on a weight training program to rebuild the muscle mass. Didn't start feeling right until December. Still feel like I have some side effects.

Make sure your Dr. is in the flow with what they give you. It isn't their body!

So what can be done with the muscles that help the lungs?

I also use an elliptical trainer to build up the wind. Still have issues with endurance, but it is better than before. Hopefully it will come back and I can also get rid of the annoying cough.

When I was an Undergrad years ago, my liver was screwed up by MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keytone Peroxide) and one drink would get me drunk for years. Now I can drink more but limit myself to one (rarely two) beer, wine, or mixed drink. When I told my doctor, he put me on 2 oz of almonds or walnuts per day instead of Statins.
As long as I watch what I eat and stick to the almonds/walnuts I am OK.
I am not a Doctor and can not prescribe almonds/walnuts, but last time I checked, you don't need a prescription.

Besides, almonds and walnuts taste better.

PS peanuts & pistachios work too.

That's good tip Warp, I assume he would have given you a prescription if he was able to do so, and stay in good standing with the pharmaceutical companies?
