We have several mountain lions around here. There was a lion that killed a 4 week old calf. Once these lions get a taste, they keep coming back for more. Calves are so much easier to hunt down then mule deer and elk. Anyway, there was no choice but to hunt him down. A buddy of mine tracked him and another guy shot him.

Send PITA the bill for your calf and turn them over to a collection agency when they don't pay. :pepper: :pepper:

It's a shame it had to be put down but I understand the necessity. They sure are beautiful animals...

We couldn't tell for sure, but we guessed 150 lbs.

The shooter was tracking the cat the day after the calf kill. The lion killed the calf, drug it off, and buried it. The shooter tracked the cat and found where the lion had buried the calf. He also noticed that a coyote was freshly killed by the buried calf. It looked like the coyote was trying to feast on what the lion had buried. The shooter tried to call the lion back in, but he didn’t have any luck, or so he thought. He started to walk off and felt that something was watching him. He turned around and saw the lion about 15 yards away scrunched down in the brush. That’s when he shot the cat.
