Sometimes I feel like I know just enough about computers to find the "On" switch.

What does one change on their browser, in this case IE, or on the computer itself, that allows one to see the posted pictures?

Thanks for any insight

There may be a setting in IE9 via Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab that you can change to see pictures. I don't know. Back when IE9 came out I was also using Firefox and had no problem seeing pictures in Firefox so I just quite using IE9 almost entirely.

Internet Explorer is the problem, switch to a proper browser.

Also, there's an incompatibility between the latest versions of IE and the javascript image resizer add-on that I've not had a chance to properly upgrade as of yet... but I agree with the "proper browser" statement in spirit :)

Sad part is this site is the only one that is having the pic display issue.I can view pics just fine on any website but this one.I have to have IE due to that is the only browser that I can access my pay info and benifits through work and switching between browsers is just a pain in the rear to even bother.

Well, this all sounds about like a pain in the a**!

I checked into the Tools, Internet Options, Advanced route and found the "Show Pictures" line was already selected in the Multimedia section. I wouldn't have known about that without some direction though; Thanks Papaindigo.

I guess that I'll look into some other browser rather than IE9. I rather like IE actually.
As I said, I am somewhat the neophyte, especially when it comes to software.

Anyways, thanks to all for their input.

From time to time I've fiddled with the IE9 settings without totally satisfactory luck. Nothing really works including compatability view. The closest I've come is somewhat odd and not satisfactory given that it applies to all sites not just LOST. If you uncheck the show pictures tab then the place on the page for each picture shows as a rectangular box the size of the picture and if you right click on the box there is an option to "show picture" works but clunky.

IMHO to easiest solution is to use an alternative browser. I like FireFox (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) it's free; it's stable; updates are routine and easy; it has lots of nice add-ons like AdBlocker (blocks lots of extra ads) and Flashblock (blocks Flash videos from loading, especially those really annoying ones that play automatically, but displays an "F" icon in the flash window so you can play the video if you want); and can easily import all your IE bookmarks in just a few seconds during setup. If you continue to use both IE and FireFox you can easily import newer IE bookmarks into FireFox at anytime.

I've gotten to the point that I virtually never use IE. No I don't have any economic stake in either. I hear Chrome works too and my wife likes Chrome.

There are issuses with IE9, and yes it is with java. Best bet is to use firefox,or goolge chrome as a brower. I have had problems with IE 9 on other sites as well. Instead of pulling my hair out, what little I have left, i just use firefox. I am not supporting any brower, but not supporting IE9.

sota - now that's interesting and, while clunky, it works but what IE commands are these steps doing that cannot be invoked automatically in IE internet options. I assume it's somethink like heh you stupid site I do want to see pictures in IE9 speak but how is a bit further into IE tech land than I can go.

I might could program a keyboard key to invoke these 3 key strokes but think I'll just stick with FireFox.

it's instructing IE9 to render the page in "Document Mode: IE7 standards"

the site owners need to put a tag in the style sheet that'll force that to happen.

you'll also note that by changing the rendering to display THIS site it'll break the displaying of other sites if you open them later on. just reverse it for those...

Microsoft could also stop trying to think for me, I want to see pics without having to be an IE wizzard.

Haven't used IE since FF came out. :SOMBRERO:

they changed the browser because people are finding new and novel ways to piggyback a virus on file types no one expected them to be carried on. it's just a nature of the beast. hell the Apple Religion swore up and down they were immune from viruses for years... :grim:

oh and trust me I hate that they've changed it up also. it's caused all kinds of grief at various clients for reasons not related to image viewing (MHT files got bit also.) but the alternative is spending too much more of my life doing a massive system wide cleanup if another outbreak happens. I remember ILOVEYOU all too well...
