Out where I work there was a few guys smoking on lunch since it was a bit warmer today. I notice 2 pretty nice wranglers and a lifted f150 they was standing by. I decided to talk with them a bit. For the most part they was pretty cool and they offered places and events around here for offroading etc. they did talk a bit of smack for me having a Liberty though and that I need to get "a real Jeep". Not in a rude way but joking around so it didn't piss me off.

I mentioned I just got a lift kit i plan to install here soon and they was going on not to lift it etc. basically said that would be the (not sure what word to use as I don't know if it is racist but) equivalany in the offroad scene blah blah. Compared lifting and doing stuff to a liberty with people who get fart can exhausts and giant spoilers on a Honda Civic.

The libertys I've seen on here look pretty sweet. They appear to be more than capable of hanging offroad with anyone else as well. I get this feeling ill probably run in to a lot of this though. Just curious to those that go to events or are part of any Jeep groups. Have any of you experienced any negative attitudes and crap talking? I am new to the entire offroad thing so wondering if its pretty common to get busted on and I should get used to it or what?

Nope, I am a tad smarter than the average Wrangler owner. I drove around exactly where I said he would get stuck but ya know he had a "real Jeep" and was going to prove me wrong. Sucks when a "girls Jeep" pulls ya out :ROTFL:

I just went up the very same line the LJ did and made it.

Though now I don't really get any flak about owning a Liberty since doing the SFA swap.

You know what , no matter what you drive or ride or what you float around on the lake,
There will always be someone who thinks their's is better
or think they have to give you crap about what you're driving.
Go out have fun, show them what your's will do
Its a lot more in knowing how to drive, than it is in what you drive

The comment I got at first was "is that a four wheel drive"? By the end of the day they were all believers. Only two of us made it up the biggest obstacle, the other being a Rubicon on 35's. My Libby set up the way it is will go most places in 2wd where it takes 4 wheel drive on Jeeps with open diffs. I've pulled out a big Bronco and a 4x4 F150, or should I say pulled them along as they couldn't make it on their own. Funniest of all is going up a fairly steep hill, with big bumps (undulations) in 2WD and then having a TJ come behind and not be able to make it in 4x4. He said he had to disconnect his sway bar...sissy.
Lifted, locked front and back with rock sliders, Libby's are serious off road capable. Up to the point where they run out of ground clearance anyway...when you get to that point, SFA baby!

Yeah, I don't really care if anyone says something like that and all it just made me curious if that was common or not. Just from them saying that stuff and then browsing other jeep forums for stuff and coming across some KJ hate. Wasn't sure how common it really was.

I actually get way more questions about what it is.
Folks walk up and I hear " Wow thats cool looking or that's B.A. what is it? "
When I tell them a Liberty I then hear " Well never seen one like that before"

Being in construction, and a taller fella, yeah the BS gets going at work. But when the size 52 jacket size 3 hat morons :ALONE: start complaining that the Cootermobile trucks they own are breaking the bank with fuel cost, I laugh at 'em. Especially when the biggest thing theyusually haul is their lunch.

Sometimes I do, until people see it in person. With the lift and tires, it has a lot more ground clearance than the trucks that guys at work drive. I had it up on a lift in my stall one day, everyone came to check it out and look underneath, and the comments were basically "oh wow, this thing is actually really stout. I thought it would be built like a car. holy sh*t it's a stick shift!"

Haven't gotten any yet, but it's great to impress them unintentionally before it starts. The other day my KK was on the lift and the first thing out of my father's mouth was, "Dang, that's a REAL driveshaft!"
