I just bought my KJ 2 weeks ago. I was in South beach, pulling out of a parking space. When I accelerated to cross the street, the belt snapped and shut the Jeep down. I thought it would be impossible to get a quality repair on South Beach for my KJ. I was wrong! One day later and $508 for a new timing belt kit and labor. My KJ is up and running like a champ.

Considering it has an interference engine i was worried there would be engine damage.

I just thought I would share the shop that brought it back to life and did not rip me off. AND FIXED IT IN ONE DAY!

I doubt you have no damage. Rocker arms are designed to break in the event that the timing belt breaks to prevent piston damage. For that price I doubt your mechanic inspected the rocker arms.

Might want to read the OP sig, they have the 2.4 I4 GAS ENGINE which is not a interferance engine so in most cases when the belt breaks the engine is 100% okay.Only high rpm's belt breaks is where the valves can hit each other on the 2.4 gas and cause damage.

Well first off his signature is not showning on my tablet in the Tapatalk app, so I have no way of seeing that. Poster also states in his post that he has an interference engine.
