Anyone here into boats? I grew up on them as my father had a few over the years. The most recent was a 38' Cigarette Top Gun. He hasn't had it for a few years now and I'm in no financial place to buy one but I'm helping a friend shop around currently. Whatcha got? Here's an old shot of the Cigarette with one of my old cars. It had twin 540 Bulldogs in it, each good for about 500hp. It topped out at about 72mph in perfect conditions. Such a great boat though. |

Our 1971 Glastron V166, with a 1971 Mercury inline 6 135hp and the 1971 TeeNee trailer. My hubby's father was a dealer and this was his last demo model. We got it about 10 years ago and love it, though it's got nothing on that cigarette boat. |

That's a good sized motor for that length. It must move pretty well. The boat before that Cigarette was a 2004 (I think) 25' Nordic Rage with a 496. Looked just like this boat except the flames were red. We have pictures somewhere. And just before that we had a 22' Larson bow rider with a 454. |

It does move pretty good - and the motor's not too much for the boat. We've been testing props on it 'cause we've somehow got about 15 to try and we think we found the one my hubby likes the best. All four boys (plus untold numbers of cousins and friends) waterskiied behind that boat. |

I helped my friend pick up an 18' Baja with a 205hp V6 in it last night. We sea trialed it briefly but it was really choppy. Too choppy for an 18 footer. Hopefully after work today we'll get on some different water that's a bit calmer. |

Getting to be that time of year again! My boats: 1993 Monterey SER 285, twin 4.3Ls My 14' dingy. Now has a different motor, though (25 HP Johnson now, versus the old 9.9 Force): Plan is to use the dingy for tubing, kneeboarding and possibly wakeboarding. The Monterey has twins in it, and is about 31' LOA, so it is wildly uneconomical for buzzing around the water all day to tow riders. |
