Mods, please clean out this forum. Also, see "Other stuff for sale" for a bunch more.
Thanks.

Or find another Mod for that express purpose, that's willing to take the assignment.

Hell, I'll take the job. Spam should be stopped at the server level but it's not happening. I am here enough and while not all that active am here most every day. Spam suck.

Doing it when I find it, let me know when you see any and I'll take care of them.

Maybe the notices got caught in your spam filter. 8)

Every one I report I’ve asked for a confirmation via the report option on the spam report window. To date I’ve never received a confirmation. Maybe the internal report mechanism is broken? Would you prefer a pm additionally/ instead?

Why is the spam reporting button not notifying the right people? I have reported many of them with it in the past! :banghead:
Who gets the notice when you click on the "Report this Post" button on the bottom right of the post?

This is why I posted above because I’ve made several notifications but never received a response when the spam was removed. Now, I see a necro’d post here viewtopic.php?f=37&t=78873

Referring to email / notifications. Not sure if it’s related. This site is using a pretty old version of software so maybe something has happened / changed ?

Sounds like this site is in dire need of a software update?

Did internal spam post of this thread..... viewtopic.php?f=60&p=927539#p927539

Also pm’d Tomm. Let’s see what happens. Noticed there was an additional one posted but had already been reported by a different user.

Post subject:  Re: Incredible amount of spam

Just reported another dozen or so spam posts. They were all replies to an existing thread as opposed to a new thread started specifically for the purpose of spamming.

While I'm on the soapbox, there are three main issues I see with the forum as it stands:

  • Does not support encrypted (TLS) sessions
  • No CAPTCHA or similar mechanism for mitigating bothersome account signups
  • Email notification is broken

If this is a case of the forum needing an upgrade, what would it take to make that happen? The spam in particular is really problematic, but so is the broken email notification, and enabling TLS just makes sense. I'm willing to help where I can on this, but can't do that without knowing what needs to be done.

The spam does seem to be almost a daily occurrence here lately. :furious: :furious:
yashasvi07 17 posts of spam and he is still posting, why don't adm. block him? :banghead:

Post subject:  Re: Incredible amount of spam

I have a sneaky suspicion that our admins are few, and far between. I am betting that we are running a very old version of this Board software which would explain no ability to upload pictures, and no TLS.

I tried to convince myself that there was very little KK material ever posted, because technology wise the KK has jumped the shark further away from where the standard guy can really work on / upgrade the mechanics of the rig, but I find this hard to believe since there are several well visited Wrangler forums out there that cater to the latest models, and get plenty of daily traffic.

So in the end I have no clear idea what can be done to breathe more life into this place. :(
