I figured I should throw this out there being as navigation in the Moab area is always an issue. I've been exploring that area a lot and have tried several different apps on my iPad to get something that will work in the Moab area. It's a bit unique there as you CANNOT count on having any cell reception outside of town. You'll get it here and there, but don't count on it.

Here is the best one I have found: Scenic Map Western USA ($10 I think in the app store)

It takes a fair amount of space on your iPad or iPhone because it stores all the maps on the device. This means you can use them without any reception. From what I've seen, this will give you all of the maps from about Durango, CO west to the Pacific.

Here's a video showing how the program works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJT-zKL9fUw

I don't have anything to do with this company, just passing on what's worked for me. I especially like that every trail I have run thus far has been on the maps.

Oh, and there is a free "Scenic Map Grand Canyon" you can download to check it out.
