Hello All,

Nice forum, and it has been fun to read through the facebook posts as well, specially the one about bikinis and speedos for this trip!

I'm new, just got a stock XJ a couple of weeks ago, interested in this run but I'm a total newbie.

What would be the bare minimum I would need to be able to keep up with you guys and survive the weekend? I don't have any gear, camping or wheeling, but wouldn't mind sleeping in the XJ and eating sandwiches the whole week-end.

I need to get tires as the ones the XJ came with are in bad shape so money will be tight...or maybe I should just sit this one out and go next time, how often do you guys go?

There might be a +1 if the wife or father in law can make it.

You could make it in a stock XJ, but tires are important. If your jeep is mechanically sound you shouldn't have any issues.Also, make sure your jeep has recovery points. The trail is not difficult at all. You would need to find a way to carry 5 gallons of fuel to make the whole trip. You could sleep in your jeep, just make sure you will be warm enough and you have plenty of food and water for the weekend. Most of us have some kind of BBQ Grill you are welcome to use if you wish to cook. If it sounds like something you want to do, post up here and give it a shot.

Thank you for the info Wally, I plan to get new tires this week-end and do a thorough check up on the jeep.

Please put me down as going. solo for now. Also, how much do we need to contribute for camping/etc fees?
