Howdy Jeeples! Bring your Valentine (or not) and join us on an exciting camping trip to Death Valley/Saline Valley over the weekend of February 14th through the 16th. We are are not camping at a developed campsite, so no showers and such. There are some requirements as follows: 1. You need to bring extra fuel for you vehicle (minimum of 5 gallons, more would be better). The last spot for fuel will be our meeting spot in Olancha on Saturday. There are no gas stations from that point until we pass back through Olancha on Monday. 2. Your vehicle must be in good running condition. We will be out in the boonies and this is the last place you want to have a breakdown. 3. You must bring enough food and water for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. There are no stores, fast food or Dominos out there, so come prepared. 4. It will be a little chilly at night, so make sure you are prepared to camp in cold weather. Bring warm clothes and a good sleeping bag. 5. Bring at least one bundle of wood per vehicle for our group camp. Our preliminary itinerary (subject to change) is: Saturday - We will meet in Olancha (meeting spot below) on Saturday morning and leave promptly at 7:00 AM. It is a holiday weekend and we want to make sure we miss the traffic and get a good camp spot. This is the last fuel stop for the trip until we pass back through on Monday. Fill your vehicle here and make sure you have extra fuel. From Olancha we will caravan to our camp spot, which will be at the Saline Valley Hot Springs (Chicken Strip). We will set up camp and do a few short trips Saturday afternoon. Sunday - We will go to the race track and teakettle junction, then head back to camp. Monday - Break camp and head home. Meeting spot in Olancha (be ready to leave at 7:00 AM): Mobil Gas Station 601 U.S. 395 Olancha, CA 93549 Hope to see ya there! |
