Post subject: | Window Regulator R&R |
I finally got around to fixing my diver side power window regulator. Naturally, it broke about 400 miles out of my B to B warranty. ![]() I will not be doing a step by step here but just some pics to show what it looks like under the door panel and some tips on what to expect. It was about an hours job and that was taking my time doing it. If I had known that it was going to be as easy as it was I wouldn't have put it off as long as I did. If you have seen this: ![]() You probably know what I am talking about. This is what it looks like once the door panel is removed: You can see that the plastic sheath around the cable has cracked and broken allowing the cable to go wherever it wants to and not move the glass. ![]() The bolts circled in yellow are all that holds it in place. Remove them and a clip that retains the end of the cable and unhook the electrical connector. ![]() This shows the assy that actually retains the glass. The original one is steel and the replacement is plastic. ![]() This plastic piece, shown installed, is what retains the window glass. You can see the metal clips that retain the glass. ![]() Once the glass is removed from the old regulator you can move it to the top of its travel and use duct tape over the door to hold it up. ![]() For reference, Here is the new window regulator assy. ![]() The new regulator comes with all new hardware installed so you do not need to keep any of the old stuff. Hope that helps some. IF you have tackled this repair and have any advice of tips please add them. If you need more advice, Please ask. I do not think this is too dificult of a repair and I am glad I didn't spend the money to let the dealer do the job. |

Hope you can help me with this. Passenger window regulator is not working anymore in my KJ ad want to replace it or fix it by myself. The problem is that after removing the six bolts that retain the regulator, I can't remove the assembly from the door, even when the glass is already all the way up and fixed with tape. It seems that the glass hinders the assembly removal and I don“t want to scratch it. How do you remove it? Thanks in advance |

Yes how much were parts definately. I just had my two rear windows go out at the exact same time (the kj sat in storage for a year) Its still under warenty right now so no problems but for those that believe in "murphy's law" it would be good to have some info in case it ever happened again. Thanks |
