I decided to do this, I used a reciprocating saw and it took just about 15 minutes total. I even cut out holes for the impending tow hooks. I didn't have to drill any rivets (as shown with red circles) out. I just unbolted the two bolts under the radiator and pulled the whole thing off. I still need to file down the edges and stuff. When I trimmed the inner fenders I made sure the washer reservoir was still protected by the splash guards.

Do you have any side view shots, specifically in the fender well (i.e. Like the one I took below)? I want to trim my bumper and end right below my side markers like you did.

I trimmed my fender wells to accommodate my Daystar 2½" spacer kit and 245/70/16 BFGs. Here is a picture of it: Image

I covered the holes with Gorilla Tape to prevent snow and other debris from getting packed up in there. I removed the tape because I have to trim some more since my tires still rub. I am hoping that once I trim my bumper and fender wells right below my side markers that my tires won't rub anymore :crossesfingers:

I should note that I mainly had to trim my fender wells to accommodate the offset of my Cragar Series 352 wheels.

Thanks! long_tall_texan, I especially like your before and after trim pictures! You must have installed your lift in your after trim picture as well since it looks way taller than your before trim picture lol. Did you trim your bumper and end right below the side markers like MidnightLiberty did? Do you have any side view shots in the fender well? Thanks!

I would also greatly appreciate it if someone would post a picture displaying the bottom of the trimmed bumper. I assume once you trim the lower excess off, the bottom of the bumper is completely open and no longer enclosed. If this is true, what did you guys use to cover the opening or did you just leave it exposed?

I want to trim my bumper, but would like to see photos of the wheel well and underside of the bumper of a post-trimmed bumper before I trim mine. Also, I would like to know if the bottom of the bumper is completely open and no longer enclosed once you trim the lower excess off and what you did to cover the opening? Thanks!

Just got finished trimming my front end. Took about an hour and a half while also making a thin skid plate for a little protection. I used an angle grinder most of the time and a dremel until it took a crap on me. Here are the pics.

Extra plastic kills the approach angle.

This has got to go!

Not bad for what i have to work with.

This is what i removed.

The crack from having too much plastic and going offroad.

Homebrew skidplates. Once the bumper is rebuilt they will be much thicker.

Of course my finger got in the way.

Is a skid plate truly needed if it will not be going off road? At least not for awhile.

I know this is a old one but does anyone have photos of the wheel well and underside of the bumper they can post? I am not sure what the wheel well will look like or how to trim it.
