My car is an 02 3.7 5-speed and lately i've been noticing and feeling that in between shifts occasionally I feel and hear a thump almost as if my transmission in coming up and hitting the floor board. It will also do this occasionally when I accelerate. My first thought was that it was the transmission mount but after inspecting it, it seems fine. I put pressure on the transmission with my hand while under the car and everything seems to be fine. My next thought was maybe motor mount but when I rev the engine there seems to be no unusually movement.

Have any of you experienced anything like this or any ideas as to what it could be?

Thanks.

,Nick

I get this with my automatic sometimes, 07. Not sure what it is maybe normal? It doesn't do it all the time. Kinda just seems like hard shift.

I'm posting on this long-dead topic just in case someone searches for a similar complaint and finds this. I had what sounds exactly like the OP's issue. Turned out to be the ball joint in the rear upper suspension was loose. The balljoint itself is mounted in rubber, which had become completely hammered out. You'd get a nice clunk getting on and off the gas, when taking off, and between gears.
