You already have a electric fan that sits in front of the mechanical fan.If the electric fan is not there your KJ was wrecked in the front end and they cut costs by not putting a new electric fan back on.Every KJ can from the factory with the electric fan no matter what, even if they have the mechanical fan. |

I dont do any towing So I really dont need the mechanical fan then? I was told by removing the viscus fan it makes 5 mpg more and 15 horspower. |

You may gain a few HP(maybe 5-10 at most) and may gain about 1mpg at most but that's pretty much a stretch to get that 1mpg from removing the mechanical fan on a KJ.The big plus by removing the mechanical fan is less stress on your water pump though.

Looking for instructions on how to do this, so far I cannot find any links, can anyone help me. I want to remove or disengage the mechanical fan on a 2003-3.7L. Thanks. Ps. Does the electric fan work automatically after this conversion, or do you rig it up to run of a manual switch?? |

I'll vouch for the fact that if your electric fan isn't working your transmission will overheat while offroad. My 04 Libby has the trailer package c/w both the radiator cooling fans. It wasn't until I experienced repeated episodes of transmission overheating that I realized the electric fan wasn't working. Since I have it fixed (both speeds) I'm offroading cooly! |
