I think we decided that it COULD work.... But to my knowledge there has not been a V8 swap yet, at least on LOST.

It's about time to see V8 swaps...now that people are reaching the 200,000 mile mark.

well we put a 5.2 in a grand about 2 years ago and i thout it would be cool to put a 4.7 but i will only do it if i need to replace the 3.7 it should work if it will fit

physically the 4.7 will fit
computer needs to talk
and the 45 or 545 tranny to live with the torque

Yep, we are WAYYYY overdue for someone go blaze this trail.

I also think we decided that it would be much easier to do with a manual tranny KJ...I am accepting donations to fund the first ever swap. :D

I've got an 03 KJ w/ 45RFE and a 02 WJ with a 4.7 i don't think that there's a difference in the harness to the control modules - of course the harness out of the control modules is different for the addition of 2 cyl's

the actual wiring on the injectors and coils themselves looks identical

physically fender to fender it will fit, it will be tighter in the front but there's a few things that you can do to relieve that pinch

at the bare minimum you'd need the 4.7 to mate to the 45RFE or 545RFE and the control modules and the harness from the modules to the engine

you'd have to look at a pinout diagram or a interchange book to see if you'd need the rest of the harness

well, if you get a good donor vehicle at a scrapyard, part-out, what-have-you, you can grab everything, engine, ecu, transmission harness, hell grab the whole harness/computer.

and if you are that far into it. you might as well grab the whole engine/tranny as a pair, then there are no bugs to deal with. in theory of course. since you will need to get a new driveshaft anyways....

just sayin'

Not that old but old enough that I will not be putting a 4.7,which is far to complicated and that will run well over $20,000 to do the right way.Nope going with a 302(maybe a 347) with stand alone FI.More time consuming but half the cost.Just gotta get Marty up to par with fabing aluminum, need a new dash made.

Have you thought at all about the Magnum platform? I know there are lots of adapters out there for those engines to bolt to just about every trans imaginable... plus Mopar makes a stand alone harness for it to retrofit into older cars.... I had a '72 Dart with a 5.9 Magnum stroked to 408ci and mated up to a 727... that was a pretty sweet deal and they are super easy to work on.

Not that they are bad, just prefer the tried and true SBF over any Chrysler engine made today or in the last 50 years(yes that includes the HEMI).

No big block either

was looking at something similar as in the link below but with stand alone FI.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Ford-Racing/397/M-6007-Z347/10002/-1?parentProductId=941383

Though one of these bad boy's would be nice, but out of my budget for this mod.
