Link doesn't work. Here's the new link for the correct KK CV head part:

Hello,

New KK owner. Love it so far, but I am attempting to drop the front prop shaft out and I am having clearance issues. I can't seem to get the end with the U-joint low enough or the end with the CV high enough to get the darn thing out. There is what looks like a sensor on the exhaust that is making everything more difficult and I can't seem to get that off to speed up the process. Any suggestions?

I just did this a month ago. You have to remove the O2 sensor to drop the driveshaft out. Get wrench that fits the sensor snugly and just trim a small section of the closed side off. Them take the sensor out. Don't have to be gentle...it can take a beating. I may have gotten frustrated at how stuck it was and tried to hammer it off the cat...didn't budge and still works haha.

Has anyone used one of the new driveshafts from http://www.1aauto.com/jeep-liberty-driv ... 225&y=2004

I've bought several items from them in the past and had good luck with them. This is a new driveshaft complete. Due to some health problems I have it would be worth the difference in replacing parts.

Does one really need to replace the retaining ring? I got the spare kit with that one missing and i am debating on whether I should really wait for it to arrive or just reuse the old one.

Does it get damaged on removal? Normally they don't but who knows this might be some kind of one time use only one.

Well it's a standard ring and can be reused.

So finally got to install it today. Changed both front and rear heads on the shaft and took for test drive. I can hear a hum in 4wd (part time or full time) from the front differential while driving. Additionally when I am stopped the humming is louder and I get a vibration bad enough that I want to take it out of 4wd. Never did this before, thoughts? Everything went in as advertised.

Separately is the drive shaft different for a crd vice 3.7L? I don't believe so but I just want to make sure.

You did not install one of the joints on the shaft backwards did you? They will go on either way, but one side of the splines on the joint is slightly tapered...
It has happened before and it changes the available clearance (length) of the shaft!

I don't think so but I will pull it apart and see. On the front side the one question I had was on the front head there was one side that was flat and the other side had a slightly raised side. I put the raised side away from the differential. That was way I could see from the a1autos video.

If you look at the picture, the side you can see is up/towards the differential.

Appreciate the help.

It is hard to say from just looking at the picture, but it looks like to me that side should be facing away from the differential toward the transfer case?

Anybody tried this kit? According to the description, it has everything needed:

http://www.driveshaftparts.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=978

"Whats in the box:
New CV Joint, boot, bolts, tie washers, grease and snap ring.

This is a complete replacement kit, no old parts are required (except the shaft itself)"

That's the kit most of us use.

Awesome! $22 sounds like a steal though...

Well I got the kit above for $22. Had everything necessary. Getting the old cap off the head was a real pain. Had to hit with a screwdriver/hammer combo repeatedly. I don't like the style of the crimp band supplied with it. I don't have a special tool for it and I couldn't get it satisfactorily tight so I might pick up a different one before I put the shaft back on the Jeep.

I also would like to know if I should use Loc-tite on the bolts when I put it back together. If so, red or blue?

Thanks!

Loctite? Anyone?

Would like to wrap this project up soon

I didn't use Loctite and my bolts are as tight now as they were when installed - 3 years ago...4 years ago, something.
