Ok Everyone,

I have been talking to a few people about the trails for LJS 2015, and pretty much the consensus is to do a re-do of the 2009 LJS. Durangotang did a great job on picking trails so below is the list. These are not in any particular order, I will post the schedule up in a few weeks. If anyone wants to add to this list or has some other options please feel free to let me know here.

thanks

1.) Black Bear Pass
2.) Mineral Creek/Poughkeepsie Gulch
3.) Yankee Boy Basin/ Governor Basin
4.) Corkscrew Pass/ Hurricane Pass/ Calif Pass/ Animas Forks Ghost town
5.) Mineral Creek/ Engineer Pass/Lake City/ Cinnamon Pass/ Carson Ghost Town
6.) Imogene Pass
7.) Free Day

Looks good... I added my $.02 from the last time we did it.

1.) Black Bear Pass (this should be combined with Imogene into a loop unless you want to drive back on the highway)

2.) Mineral Creek/Poughkeepsie Gulch (awesome day, I would plan to exit by going up Hurricane pass and down Corkscrew Gulch)

3.) Yankee Boy Basin/ Governor Basin (this is a short day without much mileage, Gary normally does a night run to Ice Lakes after this day and people really seemed to dig it )

4.) Corkscrew Pass/ Hurricane Pass/ Calif Pass/ Animas Forks Ghost town (awesome day)

5.) Mineral Creek/ Engineer Pass/Lake City/ Cinnamon Pass/ Carson Ghost Town (this is a VEEERRRRYYY long day and we had quite a few people that were hating life 2/3 of the way through it. If I were to do it again, I would skip the Carson site as it was relatively underwhelming and added a lot of time.)

6.) Imogene Pass (since this is combined with Black Bear, you would have another day to fill. People really seemed to like the out-and-back we did up Stony Pass to Kite Lake, and it's an awesome place to do lunch.)

Still hoping to meet you guys there.

We're looking forward to those trails!

We did the #5 Alpine Loop years ago on our own in our stock KJ, but in the opposite direction (ending on Mineral Creek). We took Mineral Creek by accident, as that is a little much for a stock KJ. That's what prodded me to lift our KJ. (Taking LJ on this trip.) We took two days, camping somewhere along the way. That gave us time to do a little alpine hiking.

I agree with durangotang's comments. I'm bringing with me an aunt and uncle who have never been on a trip like this before 4wheelin' in the mountains but unfortunately, we'll only be able to participate Monday 08/10-Wednesday 08/12.

Thus, if there aren't any other thoughts or preferences, I'd prefer to do Black Bear / Imogene Passes loop one of those days and Poughkeepsie Gulch with whatever else one of the other of those three days since I haven't yet done that trail in my KK. No specific request /preference for trails the third of those days as all of the trails from 2009 were enjoyable in their own way.

My plan right now is to run Black Bear Pass on Tuesday. We can discuss the other days when we are all there
