- Weeks Kit Stage 1 - bypasses EGR valve, fully deletes FCV, increased flow over stock elbow, facilitates easier glow plug changes.
- Weeks Kit Stage 2 - fully deletes EGR valve, EGR cooler, EGR manifold, EGR coolant lines, and exhaust-side EGR tube. (State 1 Kit required)

STAGE 1 and STAGE 2 Kits: CLICK HERE TO ORDER DIRECT

This product will set an engine light / MIL without proper ECU programming. Read on for details.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Details:

The factory Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system makes combustion less efficient, compromising economy and power. Soot from the exhaust, when combined with oil vapor from the PCV system, causes buildup of sticky tar in the intake manifold and valves which reduces power, economy, reliability and lifespan of the engine. Abrasive contaminants increase engine oil acidity and reduce engine longevity. More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exhaust_ga ... el_engines

This bolt-in kit solves all of these problems. It bypasses the EGR valve, replaces the restrictive factory intake elbow and the failure-prone (and costly to replace) EGR Flow Control Valve (FCV).

This eliminates intake soot, resulting in cleaner engine oil, reduced emissions, prolonged engine life, and increased reliability and power. Also, the higher flow compared with the restrictive factory intake elbow results in better engine performance.

Lancer wrote:
Ok, just back from a tour around Germany, Austria and Belgium (stopping off in Bastogne). Distance just over 2300 miles. With GDE, Weeks kit and Vortex exhaust, autobahn fuel consumption at a fairly steady 65-70 mph was 7.1 - 7.2 l/100km. Works out to about 39 mpg (imperial gallons that is). I did much the same trip and distance last year but before the Weeks kit was fitted and the best autobahn mpg was 7.9 l/100km or 35.75 mpg(imperial). With the cost of fuel here, the Weeks kit is a definite bonus if you do any decent mileage.

This translates to 29.8 mpg (US) before and 32.5 mpg (US) after. That's an increase of 2.7 MPG over an average of 2,300 miles.

Additional benefits include much easier access to glow plugs, and the elimination of several spots where boost leaks commonly occur (FCV gaskets and EGR v-band).

Fits: North American 2005 & 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD (2.8L Diesel). Compatible with factory CAC hoses and Samco CAC hoses.

Installation of this kit involves disabling the EGR valve. On a CRD without a SEGR or a GDE tune, this will trigger a CEL reflecting an EGR malfunction. However, the engine will run normally--in fact, it will run much better than before.

Customer takes all responsibility for modifying the emissions system. This product is for off-road use only. Full Terms & Conditions here: http://www.sasquatchparts.com/terms.html

Comparing Costs:

In addition to having several negative effects on your engine, the EGR valve and FCV valve are highly prone to failure and are very expensive and cumbersome to replace: it's a matter of WHEN (not if) these two components will fail.

New FCV valve (P/N 5142799AA): $375+ (USD)
New EGR valve (P/N 5166555AB): $270+ (USD)
Shop Labor: $100+ (USD) / hour

It is common for dealships to charge over $1,000+ (USD) to replace either of these components! Our kit can be installed at home with hand tools in 1-2 hours using the included step-by-step instructions.

Scroll down for photos...

Stage 1 Kit Includes: (as of Batch 12)

  • Intake manifold adapter (6061 aluminum)
  • Intake elbow, 2.5" (6061 aluminum)
  • High-pressure, high-temp, reinforced silicon coupler
  • T-bolt hose clamps, stainless steel (2)
  • EGR valve block-off plate (6061 aluminum)
  • Intake elbow stud kit (4x 50mm studs, 4x vibration resistant nuts) to replace factory bolts
  • Bracket and hardware to secure brake booster vacuum line (not pictured)
  • New OEM intake elbow gasket
  • Step-by-step removal and installation instructions with photos

Stud Kit Info:

The threads on the intake manifold where the intake elbow bolts to are prone to stripped threads. (The factory service manual only calls for 6 ft lbs. for the factory bolts, which is easy to over-torque.) Studs prevent this from happening and they make installation and future removal of your intake elbow even easier. The kit includes new studs, lock washers and nuts.

What is the time required to install that? After taking bad advice about the Etecnos, I might want to pull them and put the ceramics back in? Time is money to me, and I would think reassembling the factory crap would take more time then your kit?

I'm glad you asked because that's a big reason why I decided to make these.

Reassembly is painless, especially compared to the factory unit. With the factory unit the inside, forward-most bolt is very difficult to access. Probably the primary reason people dread doing a glow plug job.

With this kit it's trivial. Access is easy and you don't need to deal with the FCV allen heads or EGR tube v-band. You can have everything installed in about 10 minutes. And the next time you need to access the glow plugs, just loosen the upper hose clamp (11mm) and drop down the elbow. You likely won't even need to remove the 4-bolt adapter flange, which saves time and money for a new gasket.

VERY NICE!!!!

I can honestly say - as someone that dreads anyone asking me to install their glow plugs - I would love it if everyone bought your kit. I'd be second on the list if I still had my CRD.

A different question: Had you looked at using the existing flange/nipple right against the intake? I'll admit that I haven't checked either, but do the bolt holes line up at all between the upper intake and that flange that sits out in front of the FCV?

Thanks for your endorsement, geordi. Help me get the word out!

Yes, I did first look at using the existing aluminum piece (the tubular piece the CAC hose slides onto the FCV) and just bolting that to the intake manifold. Unfortunately, the bolt pattern is way off and the inner diameter is wrong.

Quick question. What does this do to the Over boost protection built in by the GDE tune. They talk about bleeding off boost into the erg. I know you talked about his before. I just want to be certain that I'm not gonna blow something up in the event of over boost and having no where to go... Like to hear your thoughts and others on this..
