new to lost jeeps Just bought a 2005 crd with 160000 mi. It runs like a bear but smokes like the coal plant I work at. It goes down the highway at 80 no problem but till you hit 40 she smokes thick black smoke. I dont mind rollin coal but this is excessive and it drinks fuel like mad. crazy tune or big problem I have several diesel cars trucks and tractors but even my 3rd gen dosnt hold a candle to this thing. Any input would be greatly appreciated thank You Andy

Welcome to the addiction,
first read through this, it contains a wealth of information for new owners of a Jeep CRD.
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54207

Basted on the little information you supplied, it does sound like you may be having a low boost issue.
There are many reasons this can happen, but would need more information to offer suggestions for solving the problem.
DTC's (check engine light) would be a good start to help diagnose if you have any.

Feel free to ask questions after you have read through the NOOB Guide, lots of very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable members on this forum that are more than willing to help.....
