Hey gang,

I know several of you are going to Death Valley the week before, but I want to extend this invitation to you guys.

I am planning a Big Bear run for October 21st, and maybe the 22nd! The 22nd depends on interests.

I am calling this ROCKTOBERFEST.. original, huh? I would like to eventually make this a annual Fall event.

A couple of folks have already stated they will be camping at Serrano that weekend.

This is an informal, non-club sponsored run. All standard equipment required.

Meeting Place:
Big Bear Discovery Center (http://www.bigbear.info/), 8:30 AM, depart at 9:00 AM.

Trail Choices:
Gold Mountain
Holcomb Creek
John Bull
Deep Creek (Dishpan Springs)
Hearbreak Ridge

Trail selection will be finalized at the Discovery Center.

There will be easier trails avialable for those that wish to run scenic or less difficult trails.

Lunch will be on the trail. Bring food, drinks, and appropriate clothing.

CB Channel:
Primary, 4; alternate, 14

Thanks!

Robert Prater

I am probably going to be in the midst of my move to Big Bear at this time, so I'm going to try and make it out for this. I'm a KJ newbie (yeah, sending out the app forms and fees soon) so I'll probably want to start out easy.

Anybody from LOST interested?

I have at least 11 vehicles confirmed so far. XJ's, TJ's, Broncos, and maybe even s Toy.

I may be interested in heading up. I just got a 93 XJ and lifted it last weekend so have not had a chance to test it out yet. It does not have any armor yet but has a 4.5 lift with 31's. Have not been out in a while since we sold the liberty so looking forward to start wheeling again.

I'm planning on being there with a couple of friends. So add a Rubi and a Toy to the list.

This is great guys! We have a nice group planinng on being there! We are around 18 vehicles total!

We will be splitting the group so that folks will have an opportunity to run trails they are prepared for.

We will have a group running a moderate to difficult trail, something like Deep Creek (Dishpan Springs) & Holcomb Creek. We will also have a group running a mild to moderate trail like Gold Mountain.

I am looking for a leader for the mild/moderate group. I am also open to trail suggestions. I will be reviewong my off-road book of trails to see what else is possible.

On another note, I will not be able to stay overnight and run Sunday due to family matters, but there will be a nice size group meeting and running on Sunday. I do not a new "leader" for Sunday yet, but there will be someone.

Can't wait for the weekend!

OK, I have been reading in the CA Backroads & 4WD Trail (Charles Wells) and have a list of trail possibilities:

Difficult:
John Bull
Holcomb Creek
Dishpan Springs (Deep Creek)
Heartbreak Ridge

Easy to Moderate:
Gold Mountain (Moderate) You do not have to run the rock garden.
Jacoby Canyon (Easy/Moderate)
Clarks Summit (Moderate)
Butler Peak (Easy, scenic)
Skyline Drive (Easy, scenic)

Now, I have not been on Heartbreak Ridge, Clarks Summit, or the scenic runs. I am looking for trail leaders for any of the trails.

Please remember, this is NOT an official LOST event. Each person is responsible for their own rig and safety.

Rigs must have required equipment to participate:
Hard top or roll bar
Seatbelts for all passengers
Tow points front AND rear
Tow strap (NO metal hooks)
Full Size Spare & suitable jack
Fire Extinguisher

Also, bring food, water, and appropriate clothing. Lunch will be on the trail.

The weather forecast is mild durign the day, upper 60's and cold at night upper 30's:

http://www.weather.com/weather/weeke...nav_undeclared

http://www.bigbearweather.com

Meet at the Discovery Center at 8:30 AM both days, depart sharply at 9:00 AM

See you all there!!!

Hey Nolan,

It was great seeing you again! You really showed the folks that a KJ can hang..... Of course, I already knew it.

Sorry for not posting any sooner, but the pics are here:
