I posted some details in the other thread. From what I've heard, you can see smoke from the fire in Las Vegas. |

Kaneto wrote: As of right now they're saying 18000 acres. There is a mandatory evacuation of Fawnskin and Green Valley Lake, and a recommended voluntary evacuation of part of Lucerne Valley and the entire community from Running Springs to Arrowbear. Still no containment.
I can pretty much guarantee now that we wont be taking the 3N16 into Big Bear, and it looks like heading in from White Mountain may be a no-go at this point as well. |

Is Karen (?) OK? There are some members living up in Big Bear right? Hope they got out fine and their houses are not threatened. |

AFAIK, Karen's house is no where near the fire and isn't in any danger. The only community that is really under threat from the fire right now is Fawnskin. For Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, and Baldwin there's really no threat. Nothing official on what caused the fire yet. Only thing coming close that I've heard so far is that there might have been a hot-spot from the last Butler fire that wasn't caught and that got built up by the high winds we've been having the last few days. |

Sitting here in Las Vegas and the valley is filled with smoke from this fire. I feel bad for those whose homes may be lost in this fire... |
