Post subject:  Trail Runs in Vegas-Early August (10th &13th)

I was planning on coming down on July 19th but that didn't work out. My wife and I will be there on August 8th until August 15th. We have zero plans, well... my wife wants to go to the coach outlet , but other than shopping we have no plans. I have been talking to Xodius and Mrkake about getting together and I pmed KJ Taz to see if he would be down there when I was but haven't heard back. So anyone wanting to go is more than welcome. I want to hit Wheeler's Pass and Potato ridge, but I think we'd have to hit them up on different days. Here is the site I use for trail info down there: http://vv4w.org/trails.asp?trail_id=1
So lets decide who wants to get together and where we wanna go.

1. Incubusmike: Potato Ridge & Wheelers Pass (and anything else anyone wants to run)

 NOOOOOOOOOOO it is a million +1! LOL.

That actually works out better for us. We are headed back to Wisconsin the July 24-30th. Wife's first time there, hehe. I want to introduce her to the mosquitos :D although I have a felling my evil plan is going to back fire and I will be donating most of the blood.

Both trails work for us.

As for Coach, *insert Nelson Laugh from The Simpson's* HA HA.

Need a pontoon boat. When Haveascrew gets choppy, it's just like navigating a rock garden.

I am down for whatever as far as trails go. July is pretty busy for me so August is great. The 10th would be the best day for me and I could probably squeeze the 9th or 11th in there too.

I don't know my schedule yet, but i should be able to hit one or two trails with you. wheeler's pass is a easy, but fun trail. i think it's more fun to start on the pahrump side and end in las vegas. in the day time you should see some wild horses running around. at night, i ran into two mountain lions on the trail, and yes, they scared the .... out of me! i went on potato ridge last year by myself and got about half way and had to turn around. it got a little dicey by myself! vegas valley 4 wheelers are going to run potato ridge this weekend (july 6). i'll try to run it with them and let you know how the trail is. another trail that is fun is the logandale trails. it's about an hour north of town. easy to very hard trails. it's next to the valley of fire and most of the area is red rocks and sand. for maps and pictures go to :

So far we have (I think):
Incubusmike
Xodius
Mrkake
Doug

Isn't there another couple Vegas people down there? I pmed cfreelv711 about it and asked if he would like to join up, no response yet. There was another Vegas person though and I can't remember who.

What date should we plan on? Pretty much any day is good for me.

Yo Yo I'm a Vegan! My days off are usually Sunday no matter what and then a day off during the week. By then I should be lifted so I would like do one of the runs. Let me know a for sure day ahead of time and I can get any day off I need. There is another one called Bitter Springs. I never have done it but everything I have read says its pretty chill. And I have rode quads in logandale and that place is awesome

Sweet, chalk up another one. We'll get the day squared so hopefully everyone can go. I hear Logandale is killer. There are some serious trails out there.

I have my stock tires you think those can handle the sand well enough?

Post subject:

I think so. As long as they aren't bald or anything.

Well I went to the nellis dunes here in town and I did not do so well but I did not air down at all. Will that make a big difference.

Post subject:

Absolutely, airing down in the sand is a must in my opinion. I'll have my on board CO2 so we can use it to air back up.

The other member that you are thinking of is 0311_DoC. He's in the military so he may or may not be around right now.

My vote is to lock in Sunday the 10th and we can figure out where we are going to go as we get closer. I am going to try to hit Bitter Springs in the next couple of weeks. It's on the list of Back Country Byways and I think it says it is mostly gravel roads, but one of the guys I was talking to said that there are some side trails that are pretty fun. I'll post up if I get a chance to run it.

I can make most any other day if we lock it up in the next week or so.

I pmed 0311_DoC and sent him the link to this thread.

The 10th is good for me too.

I still would like to hit another trail as well. Any day.

Let us know what the Bitter Springs is like.

It kind of looks to me like all the trails we have discussed can be run by a bone stock kj but a modded kj can do them and hit the extra obstacles for more of a challenge.
