Are the DRB codes they gave me. I called another shop and they are saying that it only needs a new valve body and a solenoid. So...not sure what to think now.

Tell them to give that to you in writing and guarantee that is all it needs and then bite the bullet. (?) Tough choices for sure. :?

I called and told the first place what the other dealership said and they ended up calling me back begging me to let them work on my KJ. They said that it was in fact all it needed but it would be better to swap out the whole tranny. NO KIDDING IT WOULD BE, so would a new engine and rear end and on and on but come on people fix the PROBLEM. So, I know have one more place to add to my do not use list, lol. sensored word.

Okay, if I'm calling it we will meet at Red Rock :D. There is a $5 per vehicle fee to get in, but only when there is a guard on duty which is about 60% of the time on weekends. I will post directions and details later.

Got it in writing although not sure if it is worth the paper it is on. Now the big question is...do I try to swap it out myself and put in the HD shift kit or do I cough up a 1K hairball and have it professionally done...sorry, was hard not to die from laughing at the professional part ;)

Right on, ready to roll. I am not sure about whether the wife is going to be able to make it or not.

Just my opinion here but this is the way that I see it from the comfort of my armchair  ; you are probably going to pay $500 for a used tranny with an unknown history. Then add the cost of the shift kit, fluids, filters, etc and you are getting close to that $1k mark anyway. If its just the valve body and solenoid, I would have the shop do it. Its easy for me to say that because its not me that has to pay the bill. Like I said, just my opinion.

The run sounds great but my plans have changed. I have to be in Vegas that weekend and I would love to get away from the rodeo events on the 6th but I will be flying into town and my Jeep won’t fit in my luggage. If anyone has an empty seat I would love to ride shot gun. I could get an early taxi from my hotel on the strip to meet at your hotel of choice.

Did you ever get a seat? Where is everyone staying?

My wife may not be able to make it so I might have an open seat.

We are going to book reservations at Suncoast Casino for Fri/Sat nights. I don't know the area but does anyone know where the old sign graveyard is? Is it worth seeing??

I drive past one of them every day. It is off Las Vegas Blvd and basically Cashman. More or less downtown and in a....interesting area. I am not sure you can get in there to see the signs though. There are usually around 10-20 homeless people hanging out around the place. Another way I can describe the location is, it is almost directly across the street from the VFW on LVBvld.

You can walk through the Fremont street area and they have a place called Neonopolis that has some of the old signs restored. You can get into the graveyard, but you have to make an appointment with one of the volunteers. I have been and it was kinda cool to see some of the old stuff. I recently went to the atomic testing museum and that was pretty cool.

I went by Bonnie Springs yesterday on my way out. I stopped at the motel as I didn't want to pay $20.00 to see the little town. The motel was very cool and I think the wife and I will do a get-a-way there, along with a breakfast horse back ride.

Yea it's kind of a fun little place. My wife and I have been talking about a little night away there too. There are a few days a year when they have events that they don't charge to get in. That's when you want to go check the town out. It's cool, but not $20 worth of cool.

Well, I'm out. I am too busy and I couldn't make it more than a day or so without checking in on my girls. I thought maybe I could but I don't want to really. You guys have fun, and PLEASE take a lot of pics!

Its cool. I was hoping to wheel with you again, but we understand that with everything you have going on right now taking the long drive south to hang out for a day doesn't seem like so much fun. I wouldn't want to stray far from home under the circumstances either.

We'll wheel again. I'm pretty sure I'll be down there next summer.

Mike, the girls were born? Where are the pics? Did I miss a post or something?

Bonnie Springs is pretty cool...but not for $20! I was out there...April 07 and it was only around $8.00 for parking. That is insane to pay 20 but they do have to take care of a lot of animals so I guess it might maybe be worth it....maybe.
