Well, I'm out. I am too busy and I couldn't make it more than a day or so without checking in on my girls. I thought maybe I could but I don't want to really. You guys have fun, and PLEASE take a lot of pics!

How are your girls doing Mike? I'll be praying for them and put them on our prayer chain at church.
Love their names.

The wife and I just got back from the hospital actually. The girls are doing fantastic. They are on room air, room temp, and have all the IVs taken out and are on milk. Reagan is 3 lbs. exactly, and Bailey is 3 lbs. 15 oz. They look great too. I need to update that thread with pics. They may even be home for Christmas. All I want for Christmas is my two twin babies...

Thanks for asking, prayers and well wishes everybody. We can't thank you enough. :D

I will keep them and your family in my prayers. I am glad to hear the good news Mike. I must have missed the other thread.

I'm personally hopeing to do the Deer Valley /Slickrock again or maybe the Wentworth Springs to Loon Lake loop on the Rubicon Tr.
A little further south hopeing to get back to the Shaver Lake area and finish the black diamond trails there.
I'm not sure of exactly when - most likely mid summer.
Trails that are JKable.

I would love to do some mine and ghost town exploring up there. From what I have read there are alot more sites and better ones up there than down here. We will have to try to put something together for a spring run.

I really only know trails on the west side of town. Anybody know of good trails on the east side?

The Bowl Trail in Logandale or even the Matterhorn is a bit more challenging and lots better scenery as it skirts next to the Valley of Fire State Park.

Yea we ruled out Logandale because everyone is already driving from California and we wanted to keep things closer to town.

The Logandale area looks awesome by the pics I'm fidning But further away for everyone.

Timewise, the difference between getting to Red Rock NCA from the Strip and getting to the start on the bowl trail off the Ute Exit from the I-15 is probably 15 minutes further.

Rocky Gap has two short rock gardens. We routinely take stock TJs and stock Toyotas through there. The rest of that trail and all of Wheeler Pass is one long dirt road.

John, I've wheeled with you guys in Gorman, Big Bear and Moab. I suspect that most of LOST KJ West would find Logandale more of a challenge and the scenery awfully close to what one might see in Moab. Wheeler Pass is similar to a poorly maintained fire road in Big Bear. And quite frankly, the scenery in the Spring Mountains leaves me disappointed.

Here's photos of a run I led of some newbie FJs on the Bowl Trail:

Some Hump N Bump from years past.

The dunes are especially fun. Just ask Mike.

He'll deny it and I didn't bother to get a photo, but he got stuck here and I had to strap him out.

Notice no wheeling shots of that sfa KJ? :? So is that guy a local? Anyone know how to get in touch w/ 'em?

Yeah. I have his phone number. His name is Mickey. Unfortunately, his wife couldn't get up into the rig when it was on 35s, so Mickey put on those really low rock rails to act as steps and changed the tires to 31s. Took all the heat out of the rig if you ask me. Want me to contact him and give him your phone number?

Did we ever pick the trails? Also as a FYI, Potato will be covered in Snow by then due to altitude. Or at least has been in the past. Looked like we got a little snow this past weekend, I hit a few trails with my Mom, her first time, and had a blast.

Potato Ridge rarely has snow, and if it does, it doesn't stick in the daytime. Wheeler Pass is an entirely different animal. The north side of the trail by Cold Creek is in perpetual shade. If it does snow, the snow becomes ice. Going up is difficult at best and coming down, while far easier, at night could be viewed more like a controlled slide. Been there. Done that. May need a Unimog with rotating side mounted chainsaws to lead the trail going down the north side. Overgrowth has been a known problem.

If there's no ice, there's nothing to worry about. That's one of the reasons I always suggest playing in the desert in the winter and playing in the mountains during summer.

Are the DRB codes they gave me. I called another shop and they are saying that it only needs a new valve body and a solenoid. So...not sure what to think now.

Competition Transmission is the best shop in town. If you haven't fixed it yet, call Jim and have him look at it.
