Man what a Beautiful day out in the Johnson Valley area. Temps were in the 80's and not a cloud in the sky. We had 8 rigs, 6 TJ's and the two SFA KJ's. The trail was great, just the right mix of difficulty and great desert scenery to keep it intersting and fun. All the rigs finished the day w/ just the usual scrapes and minor bruises and only 1 strap which was probably unneccesary if I had just told my son to turn the lockers on. Anyhow, pics tell the rest of the story so here they are:
Fun times! |

Nothing left under it is Rubi though. Rock Jock 60's, Atlas, 37's (soon to be 39's) etc, etc. It is a beast. I seriously think we could put a trail together through this general area for 2.5" lifted KJ's The area is huge and there is a variety of terrain to explore. Since it is BLM land we would go out there and put another easier trail together. Now to just find the time to do so. It would be a great area for a multi day run/yearly event. Tons of cool spots to set up camp and you could get an RV or trailer and tow rig out there easily. |

There is a trail that runs around the JV area up into the mountains, etc. There are dunes in the area and lake beds to run on. Tons of granite rock formations that a IFS KJ could play on, etc. The area is huge and you could just drive around and explore all day. It is amazing how close we have been to the area all these years and never ventured out there to check it out because people said "you can't run in JV, no KJ is gonna do the hammers!" Well, There is way more to JV than just the hammers trails! We need a camping/exploring expedition to the area to see what more we can find. Maybe we can do something in January? Lets go wheeling. Sounds good to me. Those pictures really have me itching for a beater XJ. Stupid economy |

There are alot of places to explore in the JVOHV. There are some indian petroglyphs, lot of different mines, springs, sand dunes dry lakes etc. I'm up for and outback explore. Most of the area is 2wd to easy 4 wheel. But there is also different routes to take that can add difficulty. |

Sure wish I could have made it, looks like you guys had a blast! Thanks for the pictures, the other ones I had seen didn't do the trail justice. Side note, I got through the Jeep Saturday morning and took it out again and I am starting to feel more confident in it. It had been down almost a year with a blown engine and I have had a lot to do on it to get it back up to snuff. It's as ready as I am now. |

Here are a few shots from a run we did this Sat with the NAXJA Cherokee club. It was a great day with lots of fun and adventure. I didn't get a shot of the XJ that was almost on its side, due to the fact if I let go of it, it would have gone over. - split second desision.
