Lets go wheeling!!

We will be running out in the Johnson Valley area. This will be an easy to low moderate difficulty run. Stock Jeeps welcome but please have recovery points just in case.

The trail is approx 25 miles or so. We'll start at Lucerne dry lake, cross over the Ord Mt's. then on over to Soggy dry lake.

I give it a MODERATE rating overall, but most is 2 WD. The trail is very simular to the Calico run in difficulty, only not quite as many obstacles.
There are a couple of mines we can check out, couple of springs, and lots of cool desert scenery. We end up at the Cougar Buttes.

Have a full tank of gas and bring a lunch.

Meet at the Velaro on the 18 & 247 @ 10:00 a.m. Leave at 10:30 Sharp!

Any KJ stockers need minimum 235's with aggressive tread.

I'll go. If it's an easy run, maybe I'll bring the baby jeep.

interested got a new kk no lift so no bigger tires yet. for most trips what is needed? I don't want to go over board in spending 4000 for a 4" lift and tires. I could maybe get a 2.5" lift and tires for 2500. with a 2.5" lift easily can get 245/75r16 30.5" will this setup work?

Yes. If you can get a 245/75 under there you should do fine on quite a few trails. we Really need to get a KK out on the trail though so we can look at how it performs and where its issues are so we can learn how to spot them and get them over obstacles, etc.
We have gotten pretty good at getting KJ's over stuff and now need to figure out how to do the same w/ the KK's.

I like the 235/85r16 and know they will fit with a 2" but can't find out how much space is there to move. are BFG All Terrian good or Mud this is also my DALIY driver.
Hope to see you soon on a trail. I am already setup with ham radio, do you guys use that? or cb?

Majority of us use CB but a few have Ham also. It would be good to have another Ham operator amongst us. (dang I gotta get my butt in gear and get mine soon!) The 235x85's would be pretty tall and a great choice IF they will fit ok on the small lift. They are what I would like to fit on my wifes KJ in the future. since this is your DD, I would go w/ an AT type tire though a MT Would be better overall for off road. My wife has BFG AT's and they work surprisingly well and are great on road. THere are other brand choices though that work well too, look for the AT's w/ the strongest sidewall as that will be the weak link on tires in the environments we wheel in.

If you can't make the Hangover run, look for an upcoming run up Rattlesnake Canyon early next year. i am hoping to run it when there is some more water flowing in the canyon.

Anyone else coming? Come on! Lets start the new year off right w/ a great wheeling trip!

Go easy on the booze this year and get some rest then go wheeling! You will have plenty of other days during the coming year to get drunk and party!

:D

I was told today is the last day of fall - - and I was hoping winter was almost over!
Looking forward to the New Years day run. It should be fun. Maybe even a little snow left on the trail
from last storm. Hope to see everone then.
I've been working on a new trail in JV called ?CakeWalk? Should be able to run it soon.
As soon as the snow melts off.

IF I get more than one running Ok by then....... XJ is Ok, but my SFA KJ has a leaking PS pump and replacement won't be here until after i get back from AZ trip. It gets to stay at home while we wheel the wifes for a change.
