To all, there will be a run on the Powerline trail just South of Nelson, NV.

This trail can probably be done even in a high clearance 2wd although I recomend a 4wd as there are some sandy stretches. Make sure you are prepared with standard equipment. Tow points, first aid kit, standard spare tire, jack, fire extingisher etc.

Bring lots of water, snacks and a lunch to be enjoyed down at the Colorado river.

Plan on some where around 4 to 5 hours on the trail including lunch time.

Lets plan Sunday the March 29th. Meeting in the Casino parking lot at Railroad Pass at 10:00am.

CB channel 16

Powerline trail (or Electric Avenue as some call it). This trail is a nice Sunday drive, goes right down to the river.
Here's some pictures from a past trip

Hopefully I will get the Libby picked up this coming weekend and be able to take it.

FYI: This is NOT an official Lost KJ trail run. This is just a fun run and anyone is invited to join along.

Just one question; which casino? I am pretty sure I know which one it is, but I just want to be clear.

so very tempting!!!
Looks like a great run. Saturday I am going to be at Nellis AFB taking my CCW course....Sunday was work in the yard and pull weeds. The darn things sprung up everywhere this year. But...I might just toss the wife in and head out that way ;) It would be a good change to air out my dog's butt too, she has been a PITA, lol. Got to love the border collies. I will let you know Friday at the latest :)

*edit*
Do you happen to have the cords for the trail head? Maybe I can drop off some geoswag while out there. Also who all is going??

Well I have not heard from anyone saying they are going so I think this should be cancelled and done at a different date when people can make it.

Guess I should have logged in and checked this thread before this morning

My fault for not taking a few minutes I guess  .

Oh well, I'm up and out & about so I guess I'll go play anyway.

Totally my fault on this one. Communication is the key. Lesson learned. I'm just glad I can get on the forum on my phone!

Sorry Taz.

I wound up finding what I think was the trail Taz meant to take us on. I ran across a couple of old mine shafts and when I came up over the mountain and looked down into the river valley it was a pretty breath taking view. I took a couple of crappy pics with my phone but I haven't uploaded them yet. It was REALLY windy that day so I didn't spend a lot of time by the river. Fun road to drive though. I wound up following a more well maintained road back out and wound up in Nelson. It took me about 2 hours to drive in and about 45 minutes to drive out  . There are a lot of roads that criss cross in that area. It would be a fun place to explore.

So did u just turn off the 95 directly down the powerline road or did you actually got to the nelson turn off?

I drove about 20 miles down the 95 after you pass Railroad Crossing Casino and turn west. Then U-turned and went up the second or third power line road but I think they all meet up. Then I basically just followed the power lines until I came over the top and could see the river then I just headed for the river.
