Wally and I are gonna run out to the High Desert Roundup area in Stoddard Valley, about 10 miles south of Barstow California, off Highway 247.
We are mainly going to find and run the Devils Loop trail. I would rate it as an Easy/Moderate w/ bypasses. We have had mild KJ's on it in the past.

We will meet at the 247/15 at the Valero gas station at 0900.
491 Armory Rd, Barstow, CA 92311

We will probably end up over at Slash X for a bite and possibly more exploring along the way.

Post up or PM if you can make it and I will get you more details.

Anyone else?

Looks like we have several rigs showing up including Quinn from All J's. Since he knows the trail well (He helped build/break the trail years ago) we won't get as lost as I had expected.

We had a great run on April 11th out in Stoddard wells ohv area. We ran the Devils Loop trail and some other stretches of trail that lead out to Achey Breakey (though we passed on that section) and some of us also ran Costly Canyon. We had a little carnage along the way, a little spotting and deployed the strap once but it was a blast and everyone had a great time and wheeled well.

Here are some pics.

Hill climbs a plenty, one of many:

After finishing up DL we headed for some trails that can lead to Achey Breakey but we passed on that trail this time. Some great hill climbs including cresting the top of a steep hill w/ only blue sky and clouds to look at, we continued down to run Costly Canyon, a short stretch of harder up canyon terrain w/ good size rocks. Lacking many pics of that stretch as we had too much fun staying moving and everyone that tried it cruised through w/ no trouble.

IN Costly Cyn: nice bypas for this stretch where bypassers can watch from above.

On the way down from up high, Slash X in the distance.

Check this sequence, what happened?

Rest of the trip was all downhill and then running through desert back to Slash X to air up, say our goodbyes and hit the road. (stupid asphalt!)
So as to not end w/ damage pics though, here is some of the flora & fauna enjoyed by all:

We even spotted this miniature dinosaur hiding in the brush.

One Horny Toad lizard!

Thanks everyone for being there. Great group, great wheeling. This is What it is all about!

Looks like lots of fun other than the rock hits. Did not look like I could have made it over the rocky areas, but the other hill climbs looked like fun fun. I was in Lake Arrowhead.

There are quite a few hill climbs you could do in the area plus lots of desert washes, etc. you could play in. Would probably be worth a visit for ya.

Actually before it was the passenger side...thanks to Annette a few years ago I bought both of hers..so I'm good to go. There is something about that area that doesn't like my tail lights!

Just a quick shout out.......

Thanks Guys, what a great day. And YES you guys ran 3/4 of Achy Breaky. From the road where Mitch went home, and through Costly Canyon, that was all Achy Breaky. When we turned onto the sand was at the bootm of that one canyon, that's when we left the trail to go back to slash X. Wally broke the light on Achy Breaky.

Thanks for a great day of wheelin', it was the toughest one that I've driven so far. But thanks to some nice spotters and a cool group, I really learned some new skills.
