Post subject:  2-12-11 AAT Workday report & pictures

Here's the trail report for the the two days of AAT work, written by Max, aka webdog.
On February 12th Lost Jeeps SoCal members went out to repair damage from the recent storms. We had 14 volunteers on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. 208 hours.

On Saturday we picked up trash along the entire trail, repaired cut fencing, removed two downed trees, and had the tractor fix many spots on the trail including two major washouts on a bypass.
All of the culverts we cleared before the storms in December worked great and were still clear.

We ran out of sunlight on Saturday to complete the main repair we set out to do, this was to install a new culvert in a major washout area. After some discussion we had decided it was best to complete the culvert installation before this weeks storms.

On Sunday 4 volunteers headed out once again with a tractor and three jeeps and one trailer, this was a very successful day. The three jeeps made it to the washout and got the site ready for the tractor, the trail had heavy motorcycle and quad use this day so we put up warnings from the three directions that trail work was ahead.

Once Jeff arrived in the tractor he made quick work of the washout and we placed the culvert into the road, he also diverted the bypass runoff to the Miller Canyon hill side.

On our way out we repaired one bypass that was nearly impassable, the first day we filled it by hand and I was able to barely make it though the trail. We decided it should be knocked down a little and the drainage plan needed to be modified up top. This was completed and is now assessable by 4x4 vehicles once again.

Thanks to all the volunteers that came out both days and to Jeff for brining the tractor out on sunday and doing a great job!
