18 days!

My plans have changed slightly. My wife and I are taking Friday off and heading down to Ocracoke on Thursday after work. We are staying at the Silver Lake Inn (I think) Thursday and Friday nights.

Are we meeting at the ferry to Ocracoke? If so, do we plan to wheel Ocracoke before heading back to "mainland"? If we're wheeling Ocracoke, we'll meet you on the Ocracoke side of the ferry.

Yes we are wheeling Ocracoke. It sounds like a pan to meet up with you on Saterday down there. I will give you a call when I get into the OBX on Friday. See if you can do some scouting of the area down there before we all make it down.

I guess we can always try for Uwharrie in November.
Or go crazy and hit Tennesse in January or something.

November is the Fall/Winter Krawl. If yall can plan Uwharri closer to December then I can make it. Or how about the end of October for Uwharri? I will be down for Tennesse in January. I have a month long winter break so that would be a great little get-a-way!

Sweet mamma jamma. I've been out on a couple Ocracoke beaches, and plan to explore some more on Friday.

I called Frisco Woods and inquired about a group discount. She said, "Well, we give group discounts to groups like the Boyscouts and church groups, stuff like that." I said, "Well, we're the LOST KJs Jeeping group and we are potentially 20-plus rentors." The woman that handles group discounts is going to call me this afternoon to discuss. The lady I did talk to said that if some of us wanted to have cabins and some of us wanted to camp, we could set up tents between the cabins. She also said there is a LOT of availability for that weekend.

I'll let you guys know what I find out. Who wants cabins and who wants tents?

I talked to the lady from Frisco Woods this morning. She said the owner was willing to give us a group discount! The discount consists of not being charged for extra people in a cabin, so the more we can get into a cabin the better. The cabin rates are $59 for a one room cabin (one bedroom with a full-size bed in it) and $71 for a two bedroom (one bedroom w/fullsize and one bedroom w/two sets of bunkbeds). These rates are for 2 adults and 2 children (12 and under). Each additional child is normally $3 and each additional adult is normally $6.

I assume there is also a couch in the cabins as well, so that could sleep another person.

My brother and I are planning to share a cabin, so with 4 adults and one child in one cabin, this group discount would save us $12/night.

There is a one-time pet fee (not charged nightly) of $5 per pet per cabin. And they list "2 dogs max per cabin."

What I need is a roll-call of how many people would want a cabin, what size cabin you would want, and how many people you want to pack into said cabin.

Uh, yeah.... that would be a big ol' "No".
Just the two beds and a small table. Think of it as a more sturdy lawn shed.
Oh, don't forget to sweep away all the dead roaches before you throw down your mat.

At least the showers are warm.

I will not be spending the evening. It will only be a daytrip. The wife and I are skipping out on two funerals, sorry I mean weddings, that day to play on the beach so we need to be back late in the evening to attend at least one of the parties.

Well that's a bummer Mike! I thought you were going to be my rum & coke buddy on Saturday night.

I think we want to stay in a cabin, but if everyone else wants to camp, we'll do that. I don't want to go down there and then end up a mile away from all the people I came down to meet and hang out with. I'm sure we can get some kind of group discount on the campsites too. Well, unless we end up being a group of six people or something.

Oh...16 days!!

It all depends on the weather for me.

Yes, it's dark and lonely at the campsite and the water is cold, but it is peaceful. Except for those credit card taking crickets.

If it looks too windy to pitch a tent, then I might do the cabin thing and I'm sure Richard and his goons will join me.

Still planning on being there, haven't made any plans yet. Don't know if DH is coming along or if it's just me - but one way or the other I'll be there - can't wait!
