I'd like to bribe someone with free beer and (yummy) dinner for the person who can help me put the Rock Lizard (aka, freaking-heavy-bumper-hit-me-and-die) bumper on my KJ.

I give up on putting the bumper on by myself. I would probably end up killing or maiming myself that way. The freaking thing is heavy and my 3.5-ton jack (which lifts up to 20 inch) still can't position it up against the mounting holes.

I am going to try to put the jack on the (slight) curb and back my KJ up. Maybe that'll give me extra two or three inches ... maybe not. Have to look at options.

I've got the tools, but if you have a jack that will lift higher than 20 inch that'd be cool.

I don't have a jack, besides the hi-lft one, which can lift higher than 20 inches.

I have plans Saturday morning.
I am free Saturday afternoon.

Hmmm?
Install Party?

blocks of wood on top of the jack will get you there. Skip the whiole curb deal.

Is your neck OK? :) If you want to come over and give me a hand or just for moral support, we'd be glad to have you. Wife's been wanting to meet you.

Hmm, I have a hi-lift too. Forgot all about that. You know what, bring yours anyway. I have to find the pins for it, not sure where they are (moving, you know).

Don't have a block of wood either, but can find some. That's another option.

Neck should be fine for this stuff, I think.

How's 4:00 pm on Saturday sound?

Anyone else want to come over?

I hope your lift party was more successful than our venture this weekend. After all afternoon yesterday, and a couple of hours today, all that has been accomplished is that the Jeep fell off the jackstands and we have figured out that the shocks that we ordered are about an inch too long. So, the back isnt even done yet, havent started on the front, and Chris has to be at work at 4am. And no shorter shocks here, so the old busted ones have to go back on until we get replacements. Brand new OME's and can't use them!

Argh!!

WHAT??? OME's that didn't fit? It fell off the jackstands?? What kind of "will my mom notice" event WAS this? How many shots of brown liquor was boomhauer ingesting?? Did you switch your insulin pump with tequila??

I just used all my allowed jokes in one bad post. Bummer... ;)

Unfortunately no liquor involved - maybe that was the problem!

The issues continue - now Chris has rounded off lug nuts that will not come off. This new lift just wasn't meant to happen.

Well, sad to say, but our Bumper Party didn't have a good ending either, although the KJ did not fall off any jack stand, this time.

What happened was I neglected to read up on the latest installation instruction of the RL bumper. Last thing I remembered about the installation was "no tools required other than this simple hand tool (picture of socket wrench)".

So, it came as a shock when I realize I have to cut the steel bumper (on the car itself). I was joking with Marty when he called back that given the choice of two handtools: screwdriver and hammer, which one would he pick.

Dean was a great help! Too bad we couldn't get much done.

I told you ... forever and a half.

Anyway, I now have an angle grinder ... slowly the tools start to multiply.

Uh ... let the air out first? :)

After several broken ratchets, a neighbor's MacTool punch broken in half, an impact wrench and an air hammer, the lug nut finally let go. It was pretty much shredded at that point.

New OME shocks are on, new TeraFlex sway bar disconnects, BDS adjustable track bar, and new TeraFlex springs - MUCH improved ride! Either this lift lifted it more than we expected, or that old stuff was absolutely shot but our 32's look ridiculously small now.

Optima battery installed so the winch will actually be for more than just looks.

We might go try it out this weekend. Will keep you guys posted.
