Anybody up for a one day + 1 night cabin camping run to OBX? We want to go there while it's still nice and warm.

My wife and I are going down in September. No open August slots for us.

Found a better campground at Ocracoke NP, we will let you know what the campground is like. We're still set for 8/25 if anybody wants to come along.

Ocracoke campground is a good one. It's a little more primitive than some of the campgrounds you can find on the "Mainland," but it's still nice. Have a blast!!

Thanks :)

We like primitive. These are some pictures from KJ West's trip to Death Valley a couple of years back. That's where I got the picture in my avatar from :D.

We had a wonderful weekend while staying at the National Park Service's Ocracoke campground. There was plenty of opportunity to take it easy and play in the ocean for the two days we were there. We also got to drive around the southernmost tip of the island to the sound side and walked across the sand bars.

The kids had a wonderful time.

So did the dog, mostly.

Fresh seafood is easily available. Can't beat dining on barbecued seafood by the ocean listening to the sound of the waves.

Too bad we woke up in the middle of a river on Monday morning :-)r

We had a visit from a squall on Monday morning and one of the pole nearly snapped. Our tent site happened to be in the drainage field and the tent floor quickly floated although only a little water managed to get in. The kids took it all in stride.

It was a wonderful mini-vacation. We'll definitely go back there often.

awesome!!

Looks like a good time for sure.

I was delivering Nic to his mom, so my weekend was MUCH less fun.

Looks like you had a blast! Sorry about the river awakening! That's crazy! I'm glad everything turned out okay. Ocracoke's not a good place to get squalled on! We had to ford through flood waters last time we were there. That little island can get pretty nasty when it's saturated.
