Hey kids, here's a thread for us to chat and share for the people going on this run.

www.eldoradooutpost.com for excellent information, maps, etc.

Plan on meeting at 10am at the Eldorado Outpost, Eldorado, NC.

I will monitor CB channel 17, FRS channel 3.

Questions, comments, concerns?

I am coming with my son, but since he's just 4, I think I will do the driving this time...

Sounds like a good group. I haven't seen dirtykj chime in, I hope he is still planning on going... I spoke to jeepinmama, they have a little TJ issue, but providing they can fix it today, they will be there with us.

My son had some minor surgery on Thursday, he seems to be doing OK. I will monitor him today and so long as he's OK, we will be there. I will be caravanning with dirtykj if he is still going.

Are there any newbies? I am guessing the crew from VA has experience, since there is an XJ with 4.5" of lift!

There are a few difficult trails at UNF, but for every major obstacle there is a bypass. Last time through, I went with the same set-up I have now, and had only 1 major issue... And I eventually drove off of that... :)

The VA group is a mixture of experience, from wheeled a couple of times to the more experienced.

None of us have ever benn to uwharrie though.

But all are ready to get out and have a good time prior to us getting locked up and working our @$$e$ off for our upcoming inspections.

Can't wait toget out.

Still going. Aren't you (Daniel) gonna meet me here tomorrow at 8:00AM? I have to go get my right passenger tire remounted but that's about it for now.

Here's the New Badin Lake map (pdf)

If I remember correctly the last trip was this:

Take the [576] Forest Service road to [553] to the SECOND intersection with (92) (Rocky Mountain Loop). Go CCW and get on to Sawmill (92-A). West to Dutch John (90). Get on Falls Dam (96). Cross over [553] and [6584], have lunch somewhere in the campground. Get on Dickie Bell (96A) and have some fun.

I had to take one bypass near the top of Dickie Bell so I hope you guys are ready :)

Still looking for a shop that will mount the Al's upper a-arm for me. Know of any shop that'll do that?

So how's the weather down there?

Got an update to the VA crew. 1 KJ (me) 2 4.5" XJ's and 2 stock TJ's.

We are leaving from up here at 430, one guy is heading down this evening and going to stay somewhere down there.

Alright! Let's make this a fun trip for all.

There are three or four challenging sections in that trip I laid out. Of course your 4.5" XJ will WANT to check out Daniel :)

I guess we could go on Daniel for giggles :) I don't plan on doing it, not yet. But if someone wants to lend me an XJ / TJ I'm game, heh heh.

Well I will be up for just about anything that the KJ should be capable of, and I know that if the XJ really want to try something then they will hang out overnight and go on monday or after everyone else takes off.

Diffently looking for a good relaxing day on the trails.

I've seen one do it... do you have any skids? If not, you will spend most your time picking lines but it will make a wheeler out of ya!

The boulder bars will really help you keep your jeep from getting too much damage... stock size tires??? i'm pretty sure you will be ok.. like i said pick your lines and keep the rocks off your diffs and oilpan

oofah...

Well, We know you will be in the middle of us.. I wheeled a ton of trails stock, then on tires, no lift etc... You just need to be conscious of what is going on UNDER your vehicle. I mashed up my precat BAD by forgetting where there was a rock one day....

We'll keep you out of the sick stuff, be prepared to be busy all day!
