HAHAHA! I'm not conforming to that mindset!

I know what these KJ's do! Ask Dean or Daniel, I beat mine royally.

Been there bent that.

With pretty much everyone in the group using their Jeep as their daily driver, it would probably be best to stick to something that has less of a possibility of putting someone out of commission for a few days or longer. (This is experience talking)

While there are areas of Tellico that would be fine for the KJ's to do, I do not think we have a trail guide that could take us through those places. And based on past experience with Daniel and Richard... well let's just say we are better off going to known knowns and not into known unkowns.

As for the date, I would say that the weekend of April 12th is probably the best for me also.

Also, I would prefer going to Gulches OHV park.

It is near Laurens, SC. I believe it would be easy to access from multiple states. We could possibly get Jeeps from Georgia and other states we don't normally see. It is about 4 1/2 hours from Raleigh. So, we could have Raleigh as a rallying point on Friday for those coming from the north and head down either Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Pick April and I'm in (along with a couple of more jeeps), providing we don't pick some place that takes a days drive from Virginia to reach.

I did Tellico shortly after lifting my KJ... I stupidly followed a guy in a Rubicon and led two other TJ's on like 35s or something... I winched and strapped my way through several areas which I would never try if I had known they were coming!

Gulches is on my list for this year... Would like to try something new, I am about sick of doing the same old same old at 1 MPH with my eyes closed...

I'm with Mike; Pick April 11-13 and a location that's not too horribly far away, and we're there!

Laurens, SC is about 7 hours 40 mins from Virginia Beach, according to Google Maps.

Is that too far for you Virginia folks?

Anywhere within 8 - 10 hours of driving is OK with me.

I'll have to check my kid's schedule if we want to make this a long trip and cut into school days ... but I think he can miss a day or two of kindergarten :)

Honestly guys SC is out of my range for a trip. I am headin to UT next week for about ten days for the sister in law's wedding and then I am heading to Cali in June for the other sister in law's high school gradution so the funds wont allow for a long haul wheelin trip. So if this is the location for the Fools run I wont be in. If I would have know a few months ago I could of budgeted for it. :( So my suggestion is still gonna be uWharrie. It was a great fun place we could spend the whole day at and it has everything from mild to somewhat wild so I think it would be good for those of us that still are in need of added protection. Plus like Dean said lots of us use our rigs for DD ( I know i do) so being that far away and havin somethin happen would not be cool.

My 2 pennies

Wherever we go, I don't think I'll be able to make a long drive, and I may be only able to go for 1 day. Moving is gonna take some change outta my pocket, and I'm not sure if I'll have to work saturdays or not at my new job. Uwharrie of somewhere in VA may be my limits. I know i definately can't do tellico right now.

Honestly I'm not even sure where half these place are ya'll are talking about, or how difficult they are. I originally started wheeling in the land of sand :(

If you google map

"uwharrie nc" - the park is right there to the west of the rd. The trails run between rt 109 and badin lake

"laurens sc" - follow route 221 south and then find indian mound rd (heading west) that runs off of 221. Gulches is off on the north side of the road up a bit.

The places OH was talking about are near Wilmington Nc pretty much right on the coast.

The outter banks - I think that one is a given

I can speak only for uWharrie as far as difficulty goes. It has everything from mild to pretty hairy stuff. You can do it in a stocker but skids would be preferred.

Most, if not all of the KJ guys DD their rigs (I do too!) so I think Tellico may be out due body/drivetrain damage. Is there anything besides Tellico in TN that is worth the drive?
