We're going to be driving up to VA Beach on Friday and going on up to Shenandoah NP for camping and general exploring of the waterfalls and caverns in the area. Is anybody up to coming along?

I would suggest a meet and greet, but we're heading into the mountains this weekend too. We'll be canoeing on the James til Monday.

Have fun on your trip!

Tell me more about this waterfall, please? We have two kids in tow and I'm trying to find a hiking trail that's not too tough on them. They've done the Moor's Wall loop in Hanging Rock SP and that's about it. For comparison it was a 4 mile trail with 900ft total elevation gain.

Meet & Greet is certainly possible! When / where do you have in mind? We plan on leaving early on Friday, say, 6:00AM that'd put us in VA Beach around 10:00 - 11:00AM, maybe noon depending on where we stop along the way and if we take it easy.

the falls is all down hill getting to it but the trail is about 3/4 mile...even a area to get wet and relax...as you go to big medows coming from the north going south it is the last trail on the left right befor big medows...i think it is called black bear falls or somthing like that...just take your time coming back up...it is pretty easy though...

Still keeping it in mind James. Funds and trail difficulty are in consideration as well.

DirtyKJ and Richard, I sent a PM to you guys.

We might be adjusting our plans. The river is high, running relatively fast, and the water/air temp isn't very warm. Not sure what we're doing yet, but I'll keep y'all posted.

Hey hey folks ... we're back from the trip. We had a good time ... camping in Shenandoah, went to flea market in Luray then went on to see James Madison's Montpelier, and followed that up with a trip to D.C. to see Lincoln Memorial and the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Magna Carta. I hope the kids remember this somewhat when they grow up. I expect to be doing a similar trip when they are older :)
