Ok, I'm going to be on (at?) the Outer Banks next month (Aug. 24th - 28th). I'm trying to decide if I want to make the 10 hour drive, or just fly.. Is the wheeling down there worth driving 10 hours for? If so where should I go? Thanks guys! Your opinions are appreciated.

There's plenty of beach to drive on between Corolla and Ocracoke. The wheeling is pretty much the same throughout, soft, deep sand that's been traversed by many others. Most folks (including myself) usually drive out there and do some fishing. I haven't had much experience with the beaches around Corolla/Carova, but apparently there is quite alot of stuff back in the developments there. So, that might be worth exploring. I don't know what kind of wheeling you have done or are in to, but if you're looking for extreme adventures, then no it's not worth the 10 hour drive. If you just want to take it easy and try something different, relax, fish, then yes it would be worth it. I've got a couple of pics under the "Liberty on Beach tips" thread in the General Discussion forum if you'd like some kind of reference for what you would find.

Edit: If you do fly down there, Outer Banks Chrysler Dodge Jeep rents Jeeps. I think it is $100/day plus $.25/mile if you exceed 75 miles and you have to bring it back clean. So, FYI.

Hoss:

I believe Outer Banks Jeep is just inside Kill Devil Hills. It will be on the right hand side of Rte. 158 (the main drag). You really can't miss it.

Right side if you are traveling south from Wright Memorial. I work out on the Banks.

Are you guys still planning on doing that OBX trip in October? If so, can someone post over in the Mid-Atlantic section and let us know. We had that question come up at our meeting yesterday. There may be a few people interested in going if you are. Thanks.

Well, I would like to go. I can't take a Friday off like I did last year, since I"m already taking 2 off in October.
