Anyone on here a turkey hunter? If so...

Question 1) Is this weather the "Norm" for this time of year, or do you think it's going to really screw with the broods (or whatever turkeys do...?)

Question 2) Anyone up for a URE camping/turkey hunting trip? It's not too far, and if we all plan it out right, it could be very entertaining!

I use to hunt a lot more than I do now.

1) No, this weather is not common for this time of year. We have had a much colder than average winter with quite a bit more snow and precipitation this year. We usualy have a whole family of turkeys walk by our house during the year, but this year they have been mostly unseen. I believe that it has effected their habits.

2) What timeframe are you thinking about going and where?. It has been a long time since I went turkey hunting.

I don't really know yet, about the time, other than ... during Turkey season.

As for the where, I have been lead to believe that there may be a few birds in Uwaharre <SPL?>
So, I was thinkng of finding a place to camp, and hang out, then hunt for a few mornings or something... IDK. Just for maybe a THursday, Friday, Saturday kind of thing. Maybe even a Sun, Mon, Tues. to keep away from all the Busy Hunters... Nothing set in stone yet... I would like to make it down to Uwaharre sometime in the next month or so, but I'm waiting for it to stop its darn snowing... I came down here to get away from this crap!

I'm looking at a one/two day weekend trip, sometime in mid-march, to see if I can figure out where I might find some of the birds...
Then hopefully a Sat-Tuesday trip in April for a hunt. If not again, on a following Friday-Sat.

It would be cool if I could find someone to go with, esp. for that first scouting trip, as I do not know the area all that well, and could really use the company. lol. :ALONE:

But for right now, I need to get plates, Dif. change, and my window fixed... not necessarily in that order...
