Does anyone have a preference between the 10th and the 11th? Either one is fine for me, but it's about time to pick one, I think :-)

Well, it doesn't look like I will be going. I'm kinda bummed about it too, because this is probably the ONLY way my wife would go wheelin' (on a beach, that is). She already told me that she wasn't spending that much time in a vehicle (3 1/2 hours each way, plus wheelin'), my daughter feels the same, and I just don't know how my son would do for that long.

I agree, we need to find some other places to go. I know Orlando and I have been out with another group (NEJeepz), but I have to say, those guys play kind of rough. These are guys that don't mind breaking their Jeeps. I'm not sure who is aware of this, but listen to this. I stopped by Jaimal's house (the one that led us through Franklin and Laconia) while I was on vacation the other week. I pull into his driveway, and I notice his STOCK tires are on his Jeep. Come to find out, one of his M/T's (12 ply sidewall) exploded on the highway, and forced him onto a guardrail. He his fine. This is directly related to the abuse his Jeep has been put through. I think with different rims he might have been ok, but he was still using the stock Limited rims with the M/T's. Now, he said that he is now looking into getting rid of the Liberty, and then maybe getting an old CJ for a second vehicle to wheel. He told me that when he took the guys from NEJeepz out in July (after our run), that he realized the abuse was starting to take it's toll, then this happened. So, we need to find some places that are leagal, but not too crazy. I don't know about you guys, but I paid a lot of money for my KJ, and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

OK, I guess I'm done ranting, back on topic now... :)

If you guys go, make sure to take lots of pics and HAVE FUN!

Just talked to the wife we will try to be on the cape Saturday night the 10th (I have to teach a class on Saturday) so we may be up for some exploring on Sunday. Another option closer to home for most is Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable 50 miles closer than P town. Cost is more and you can not go behind the dunes, $120.00 per year plus $4.00 per day. Here is the link http://www.town.barnstable.ma.us/tob02/ ... Status.asp

Nauset beach in Orleans is $180.00 per year; here you can ride the trails through and behind the dunes. Rules: http://www.town.orleans.ma.us/pdf/depar ... sweb05.pdf

Town web page: http://www.town.orleans.ma.us/
Orleans is 2/3rd of the way to P town.

If any one is interested I can talk to you with more info PM me and I will contact you I have some pictures but can't figure out how to attach them.

Do they have any short-term permits? Like the 1 day or 7 day that the place near provincetown has? I'd prefer to drive the extra 40 minutes to save $150, personally. (or $90 for Barnstable).

Jeff I've read about the beaches to wheel on in the cape the one we went to is the only one that has a 7 day pass ($30) either you have to be a resident to get a cheap price or pay through the nose for a yearly pass & I'm pretty sure they don't have as much beach, maybe more dunes but I don't think you could make a day of it :)

anybody object to 9am meet time? It's another hour or two to provincetown, I believe, so we'd get a couple hours before lunch, still, and a few after depending on when people want to leave.

So lets get a headcount, reply if you're a definite yes so we know to wait for you.

We are Go for Wheeling in P Town. Would you guys object to pulling off at exit 6 and swinging into the truck stop burger King to meet us? It is a bit of back track to the Mall. And if any one wants too on our way back I can Take them out on Sandy Neck to see that ( I have The Sticker already). See every one Sunday.

no prob at all! I'm not sure how close that is to the Mall or when we'll get there. If you want, we can have somebody give you a call when we leave the mall so you're not stuck waiting there too long.

I just found out that my tire pressure gauge only measures down to 10psi. Does anyone know if the requirement of "to 5psi or lower" refers to the minimum tire pressure or the granularity of the measurement? The way it's worded, it seems like they want it to measure DOWN to 5psi, but when you think about it, why would you need to if the recommended tire pressure is 12? it would make more sense to require it to be accurate enough to know the difference between 15psi and 20psi. as opposed to 15 and 25.

As a side note, does anyone know where I can get a gauge that goes down to 5 in the event that it is the requirement? I also need to find a jack stand, I don't think any of the wood I have sitting around is plywood or thick enough. Maybe I'll just make a trip to home depot.

Also - I finally got a CB - turns out the one I had picked up a few weeks (months?) prior used doesn't work at all, so I bought one from rat shack. I was going to just get one temporarily until I could find a cheap one online, but they happened to have a great one on sale: this one is a 40 channel with weather, digital compass, dual channel watch, and mic-controlled channel up/down. And it was only $39! I opted for a mag mount antenna for simplicity sake, since the only time I will be using it is probably wheeling, I figured I didn't need much range and I much prefer being able to go into the garage at work.

Also Also - I found a great store that has military folding shovels for around $5-$15. It's small enough to fit under the back seat, and I think I'll just leave it in there all the time (I think it'll be much better in the winter than the little plastic folding shovel I had before - this one has a spade tip and could probably chip ice in a bind)

Most auto parts stores have a selection of cheap low-pressure gages. And as to how picky they are it probably depends on the person who checks.

Hey Jeff, Yes, you will have to get a gauge that measures 5 psi. We made the same mistake. Ours read to 10 psi so we had to go to a store about 5 minutes away and get one. I have an extra piece of plywood, let me know if you still need it. Later

Ok, I'll make sure I pick one up, then. There are a few auto parts stores near me, one of them must have one.

That'd be great, actually, if it's not a problem bringing it. I'll keep my eye out for some scrap wood so I'm prepared for the next time this comes around.

I just saw on their site that enclosed grills are allowed on the beach. Think we have enough time for a cookout??
