What do you all think about doing some kind of toys for tots run for the holidays? We could include other 4x4s too so we can get more toys for the kids. Just a thought. I know people get real busy around the holidays but this would be a good excuse to get together, have some fun and help some people out. If there is any interest let me know and I will see what I can find out on the program.

Sounds like a great idea. Problem isn't so much the toy program as places to wheel, but feel free to look into the program, it could be useful in other seasons, too, I think they do that all year round for various organizations.

Check with your local Marine recruiter. The Marines run a drive every year and will work with you and even provide posters, flyers etc. Then u just fill in the event time/place. They may even come and collect the toys from your location. They have done this for us down here.

I have shot an email to my local Toys for Tots contact. I also have his phone number and will give him a ring during normal people hours (it is 4am right now'). Will get the info to you guys asap. If this did happen would you guys like to combine this with the Bear Mountain thing? I bet we would get a bigger showing if we could do this. If not we can get another wheeling run maybe Paragon or we can all just stay street bound and then go fishing afterwards?

You know what, let me just get the info and then we can hammer out the details.

I talked to the Toys for Tots dude in my area. Although he is not supposed to collect toys from outside his county he said it would probably be okay since we are all from different counties.

Okay, here is the deal.
We need to hammer out a date to meet...
A place to meet...
Each member will need to bring one unwrapped new toy (hit your friends family and coworkers up for donations, I promise I will get all the toys in or on top of my KJ)
We will meet, greet and hopefully wheel or BBQ
I will cart all the toys back and give them to the program people and they will distibute.
I will also be collecting toys from members of my Air Force unit in the name of LOST NE.

My proposition is that we do this in conjunction with the Tower of Power BBQ or make a trip to Paragon. Either drive is about 5-6 hours for me...
Date--second or third weekend in November
Hope for max participation...if you can't make it for some reason but still want to make a donation to the cause I will accept them by mail (email for address)

Open to other dates and locations we just need to organize quickly and stick to the plan. Tell your wives and girlfriends that you will be wheeling for little kids! :D Input please!

Works for me... I'll take the day off work if I know at least 2 weeks in advance.... We need to finalize soon!

Okay, lets do this...first three people to respond will get their wish. This way we nail down a date and place. Answer these two questions.

Where do you want to do this at?

Paragon
or
Bear Mountain/Perkins Tower

When do you want to do it?

2nd Weekend November?
or
3rd Weekend November

Respond asap so so people can all get the day/days off of work.

p.s. once we nail down the time and place I am going to invite the LOST Mid Atlantic folks since both places are just north of thier area.
