Today I took a trip over to Nepaug State Forrest in New Hartford, Connecticut. The forrest has fire roads. I know a few years ago it used to be legal to go but lately I thought I had read differently. Anyway took a trip up and the gate which is controlled by the state was open and it was marked Tunxis Trail. There was signs stating Open Sunrise-Sunset so I figured I was good, I went alone so I didnt venture out too far for today, but got some pictures.

Ok, Vranes you posted it over here. Good.

Where is JeepDawg and Stever. Are you guys listening? You want to get a run going for over there. The trails are anywhere from easy to moderate. We could get a couple of KJ's and go over there. It is legal. You guys could take I84 over from Newburgh. Not that far.

I just got stuck once in that mudhole, there was another trail we took but didnt know if we would be able to make it back up, so we didnt try. My buddy tried to crawl on the same rock and slipped and landed on his engine skid and we had trouble pulling him off.

Buddy examining the trail I was talking about.

I made this map today. Took my GPS Trip Log and Uploaded and mounted an image to google earth, this is where i ventured to today.

Also had to pull a stock Cherokee sport out of that same frozen mud hole I was forced to take a strap in. He didnt even have any tow points but we got him hooked up to the frame for a light tug. Also saw a FJ cruiser with a 4" RoughCountry lift 34" m/t's and locked in the rear.

looks like you guys didn't break anything. Not a typical day with Stump than. Looks like alot of fun though. In the one picture it appears that you guys a hooked for tug-o-war if so, who won that?

Lift, tires, and removal of mud flaps and you'll be walking all over that pathfinder.

No tug of war. He tried to climb up on the same rock I did and slipped off onto his engine skid. Well I actually did break something. Yes yes, I KNOW, straps with hooks are a no-no. Well hooked up to the other jeep and forgot to clear the ice off my tow hook. The hook came loose and ripped a small crack in my bumper. :banghead: Its not noticeable but Ill know its there. Other than that a fun day of exploring. :JEEPIN:

Just got new A/T's .I should take off my mud flaps?

Google earth is awesome for trail scouting. To bad the areas dont get updated. By the way, whats the yellow and white markings on the trees in picture 2? Did someone use that as a marker so they wouldnt get lost?

Removing the mud flaps gives you an extra 10 hps!

Just kidding, what stumpjumper was trying to say is that with out the mud flaps it looks more like a jeep and if by any chance you'll off road your jeep hard, you'll probably end up ripping them off on the trail.

Hahaha 10hp, I tried to remove them once, but you could see on the body the outline of the mudflaps so i didnt do it. And i believe those yellow/white markings are from the DEP, they mark the trails. There is also blue markings for the Tunxis Trail.

Looks like fun for a stock KJ especially with the snow on the ground. I can't make this weekend but I'll try to get up there the next time I have time and send a quick post about it to see if anyone else can join.
