Dru,
Don't get me started on Charlie Brown's coupons!
You "earn" vouchers by eating there (which they now print on the bottom of your receipt on paper with ink that fades away to invisible if you leave it in your wallet!) in order to get you to come back....
Then they send you a "Birthday Gift" ($10 off 2 entrees) once a year which is good for like only 2 weeks by the time you actually get it. I tried to give the waitress the Birthday postcard when I asked for the check but she says "No, wait till I bring the check". Which means she brings the check, takes the card, then has to go back and redo the check to adjust the price (another 10 minutes go by).
Then when you go in to use the vouchers and finally pay, they tell you, "Oh, you can't combine offers" . "One or the other". "I'll get in trouble if I do this".
To which I reply: "I am not combining offers. Vouchers are a method of payment which I earned. They are the same as using cash or a credit card. The Birthday thing is a coupon. I'm not trying to combine offers."
Then she goes through the whole rigamarole of trying to find the manager (another 10 minutes at least) who explains like you're a moron and it's coming out of his pay and then says "Well, I'll do it for you this time as a csr service issue but next time...."
To which I reply, Well thank you but next time I'll probably reconsider where I'll eat because now another 20 minutes have gone by since the check came (the 2nd time) and you now have to take it back again to reprint it....
You know, with the way the economy is, eating out is a big deal. Either make it easy by lowering prices and knocking off the gimmicks or offer the coupons and don't hassle people when they try to use them.
Of course, I notice that their prices have started to creep back up and the size of the portions have gone down. My wife's Queen cut Prime Rib was definately smaller and the manager had to actually explain to the guys at the next table why their rack of lamb special looked like a rack of toy poodle and how portions are based on weight which has now been reduced to 5oz (for a $23.95 "special") and the # of items on the salad bar has gone down.....
...and it used to be one of our favorite places.
Huh, I guess I got started after all!
