I was thinking of getting a set of chains for the rear tires in the lib for this winter. I tried to look up the NY state law, found that they are REQUIRED when a snow emergency is called but found nothing about when it is not an emergency. Also, what pressure do you think i should drop my tires to for this blizzard were about to get, cant wait to get out and play in the snowwww

LOL and I was coming in to make a post about the blizzard. I also checked the pressure on my tires, got my tow strap and snatch strap read and also a work vest to wear encase I need to get out of the KJ to help someone.

Is it crazy that me and the wifey are going shopping when the storm comes in at full blast? The best time for shopping is in this weather because people stay home and there are no lines in the stores!

I would probably go with the chains because with chains you can at least take them off and put them on when you want. If you decide to stud you tires your going to have to pay someone down the line to take them off, ether that or you can smoke 4 packs of cigs in one day and get a hell of a work out taking them off by DIYing it.
Don't get me wrong if I lived in an area that had snow 6 months of snow I would get them studded. Then when the warm weather would come I would take them off.

Best of luck :JEEPIN:

I was just out zipping around. It's certainly Jeep weather! I have a set of chains, only used them
Once last year when we got 3' of snow. Ran the same pressure I always have the tires at, 42 psi. Handled well. Everyone was chaining up near the windham pass. Slippery hill, headed up, the plows had not come through before everyone crazy enough to go boarding got up there. The chains helped ou ALOT!
I you're not in snow all winter long, the studs will just wind up getting chewed up by the pavement, so I'd go chains. Cheap and effective when you need them.
Who wants to get a snow run going!? Hahha!

so its 1am and ive been driving around for hours in this storm, its been hella fun, all over the cross county area of westchester. Before going out i was well lack of a better term, being a lil witch about how well my MTR's would do in the snow, because I dont even get grip in the rain.
Well im here to say that these tires kicked booty tonight. I dont know if it was the heavy wet snow that gave them great traction or just the tread design. But i was still able to do a 360 in the middle of Main St. in Bronxville :SOMBRERO: Ill have to wait till the next snow when its light and dry to see if it changes at all.

Glad i didnt buy chains, that woulda been a waste. :JEEPIN:

DoubleK was the one who took my MTRs and she also said good things about them in the storm. I got a chance to drive on snow with them to and never had any problems.
